This school is REALLY BAD!!!! I was in the esthetics course with Ms. Grant. I quit 2 weeks before graduation because I was worried about applying for jobs with this school on my resume. They only taught one type of basic facial that was used for everyone. It consisted of cleanser, exfoliant, mask and moisturizer. No Toner or serums. We didn't learn about serums or any other correction products. We didn't learn anything about skin types or which products should be used on which skin types. It was literally one product for everyone. We were never taught makeup. We only brought in our own makeup and used it on each other without sterilization just to complete the quotas. Our lash instructions consisted of being handed a box of lashes, dried up glue and dummy heads and we were told to work on our lashes. There was absolutely no instruction given. Two of the students ran to CVS to get some glue because all the glue we were given was literally dried up and unusable. The conditions were unsanitary. We were never once instructed to wash our hands before touching someone's face. We used the same dirty sponges on every person. One Tuesday after a long weekend the wet sponges were green and they were still used on people's faces. We were instructed to change the barbizide once a week, which is gross enough, but I never saw it get changed the entire 6 weeks I was there and it was used everyday to soak the disgusting sponges. The teacher was moody and we never knew if she was going to be in a good mood or snapping at everyone. She claimed to be very experienced and knowledgeable but as the class went on it became clear that she really didn't know a lot outside of her basic routine. There was a ton of wasted downtime in the class. First thing in the morning, the teacher read directly out of the textbook for about an hour. After that we were on our own. After lunch we went to the lab to do facials. We weren't allowed to be in the classroom during lab time and vice versa. If you didn't have a client you did nothing. We were supposed to complete 40 facials but we got 2 quotas for each facial we did because we had limited clients. They had absolutely no paying clients while I was there. We got quotas for working on dummies, and we even got a quota when a facial was done on us so we probably only completed 8-10 actual hands on facials. You don't receive a license from this school, only a certificate. I am now attending a reputable school where I will receive a state license, and have realized that Orange Tech was even worse than I initially thought. The amount of basic information that is not taught at OTC is a lot. I can't imagine that anyone who graduated from OTC's esthetics program was actually able...
Read moreIf I could give the school 0 stars I honestly would. I came to the school sometime in september of this year inquiring about the cosmetology program, andI was given wrong information from the staff and eventually I was unable to get into the class that I needed because the staff gave me the wrong information. I then decided to do another class that was starting in January which meant registration was in December. I was told that the Facial class gets full super quick and that it was "first come first serve" for this class meaning you would have to wait super early to get in the line. So registration day comes and I get to the school at 5:45 AM and wait in the cold OUTSIDE until 7 AM mind you they had no chairs outside or anything for students or parents so everyone had to just stand up outside it was whatever I didn't mind because I was eager to get into the class. Anyways at 7 AM the start letting people in and eventually I end up waiting till about 8:45 only to be told that the class is full. And that we would all have to "try again" in April of 2020... I saw the list and I was 1 person off from getting in the class. I feel like from the beginning everything has been such an issue with this school from being gold the wrong information to the way that they run things. The system that they have is unfair and I definitely won't try to go back. I've wasted so much time going back and forth with this school. I could of gotten to the school at 5:30 AM but who even knows if I would've even got into the class then. I could tell that a lot of people were upset so many people were...
Read moreBegin in March and April submitting registration/enrollment papers for the cosmetology program. We were told the program begins in August but we would receive an email beforehand and to be here early.
Email arrives saying to be on campus on June 13th and registration begins at 7:30AM. We arrive at about 6:30AM and the parking lot was almost empty. Security went by several times but other than that, no one else. As we approached closer and closer to the 7:30AM mark, several other people showed up with numbers in hand. We had also already formed a line.
Here is where the shady games begin. If you happened to find this ONE particular security guard early in the morning, you would receive a number towards the 19 spots that were open (which it turns out there were 20.) This was not communicated in the email or either of the times we had visited the registration office before.
While we were the first in line, staff told us to find the security guard for a number, which we complied. They were out of them. When we returned to line, staff then made go to the back of the line. We now lost our spots that we had waited so long for.
By 9:30AM, literally 3 hours after arriving, we were told all spots had been filled. If we hadn’t been removed from line and placed at the back, we would have gotten in. Following their orders literally cost us our spot in the program.
Now there isn’t another opportunity until Jan 2024, where we will have to go through this process all over again still with no guarantee. This is...
