Mostly cheap, value (mediocre) items, except a non-moving wrench is a wrench for the most part. Otherwise I just don't need very many items they sell and don't want to waste money in the long run.
They seem to have given up on sales ads and coupons which were the only ways I'd shop there. Now. Prices are too high. From what I can tell they are moving to the Membership Club model to make profits without selling anything.
I prefer well made tools that last, although I do occasionally hear good things about their higher-end power tool line prices and warranties. Unless they are moving to an unconditional warranty, buyer beware.
Thoroughly check their reviews as they generally have 2 models of each seemingly identical tool, one has amazing views and the other very poor without any rhyme or reason.
I try to stick with their wrenches, nitrile gloves, containers, ramps, tires, levels, hammers, prybars, cotter pins,, hose caps,, grommets, etc.
*I hate my cheap HF $100 MIG welder. AC voltage is push-pull which causes ridiculous arc spatter. The Vulcan welders duty-cycles are too low, around 20%, so you can weld 2 mins and cool down 8 mins, and thin material. It's misleading to advertise against Miller/Lincoln wuth 2x duty cycles. *tarps too thin. *air chucks leak. *auto scanners have/had major issues but...
Read moreHarbor freight is my favorite store in the world. Get tools at a fraction of the price you'll find anywhere else. They are usually every bit as good as name brand tools and sometimes better, but you will always get a good value.
I'm personally fond of the Bauer brand, which is similar in quality and features to DeWalt tools, but Hercules is the top notch brand that has many of the features you'll need on bigger tools like table saws if you're doing professional work. I buy Bauer cordless tools and either Hercules or one of their cheap brands, depending on my needs, for corded tools.
Hand tools anything they have is great. They're so much less expensive than other places that even if they broke you could replace them several times for the price you'd pay anywhere else. But I've never had one of their tools break. They're quality tools.
Some things like casters this is the only place to find many options. They're good for things like tarps and moving blankets and zip ties. They don't carry hardware like nails and boards. They sell tools, not building materials. They do have nails and staples for nail guns, though.
You will find a smattering of hardware but generally you should only plan on buying the tools you need here. You'll have to go elsewhere for most of your...
Read moreI brought a friend over to their last lot sale. We thought they closed an hour later but we showed up with only 10 minutes to spare. It was my friend's first time ever going to harbor freight and I had spent all week bragging to him about the lot sale and how awesome their prices are. So we decided to go in anyways. I needed a few things and I knew their location in the store, plus my friend just wanted to peek at their lot sale deals up front. The people at the front of the store blocked our path and said they were closing and we couldn't go in. I explained to them I just needed a few things and I knew where they were located. The lady literally held her arms up blocking my path and wouldn't let us by. I told her I could be out of their in 6 minutes or less, but she insisted I could not come in because they were closing. They did have a half dozen people waiting at the check-out line. When we got back to the truck we still had 9 minutes before they closed. My friend was so incensed by it he refuses to go back ever again. I have offered and he insists we go "anywhere else". I have had so many good experiences at this location in the past. I don't know why it was so important to close early that night but I wish it hadn't pushed my friend away from...
