BEWARE OF THE EVIL WITCH/ES THAT WORK AT MERCY ER. Mercy ER is the WORST well wait their is Baptist /Integres which is why I went to Mercy in the first place. What does it take to get compassionate people DOING their jobs instead of acting like non compassionate evil imps? The nurses at Mercy take the cake ! I had a legitimate diagnosis by one of THEIR doctors and it is interoperable and cause major pain in my abdomen when it flares up. I get attacks from the condition and the abdominal pain is beyond a 10 always and this is from a person who has a high pain tolerance. I would think if someone comes in by ambulance shrieking and writhing in pain instead of telling the to shut -up NOT be quiet and then are condescending to you and still saying things like gosh shut up I can't think with all that shrieking. I would think the obvious compassionate thing to do is to try and relive the DIAGNOSED pain not aggravate the person in pain which, is what the nurses do in the ER at Mercy . How they behave is a direct conflict with the Mercy Values. Is it dignified when a patient who needs assistance getting to the toilet calls a nurse, she comes and says ok I'll be right back to help you and never comes back and in the meantime you urinate on yourself because you can't get to the toilet? I did not feel dignified when this happened to me on more than one occasion at this hospital. The nurses had attitudes cause they had to clean it up. In my opinion if I was attended to in a timely manner that would not have happened. They huddle outside the rooms and talk hatefully about patients. You are left unattended for hours at a time and honestly you are LUCKY to see a REAL doctor until the very end. They run unnecessary tests, they do not listen and they are seriously a part of Satan's troops. I thought a Christian hospital would be well Christian. Know that I have been refused treatment because I have no family and then when I say this to them I have been belittled and then told to call a friend. When explained no friends to call they have even questioned me like I am not telling the truth. I called my doctor and said I was ill and going to ER and was told to tell them that the doctors assistance would meet me there and to tell ER this well when I did they ignored me and then when I said it again I was told my doctor did not have an assistance. So they refused to call her office. I have NEVER in my life been treated SO HORRIBLY EVER ! I am a great kind patient and theses men and women that work in the ER are vile to say the least. Not every person that comes in is drug seeking there ARE some like myself who are REALLY ill! The Patient Advocate is not any better. I called twice to Lisa (patient advocate) and a CM on my behalf called too about the treatment and service I had received in the ER at Mercy I spoke with her and she said she was transferring me to the ER supervisor needless to say after leaving a message she did not return the call. I could go on abut I will just warn you now BEWARE THE EVIL WITCH/ES WORK...
Read moreI have always loved my providers and adored the nursing staff at Mercy. I have had wonderful experiences and always highly recommend them. Unfortunately, the billing staff and billing processes are horrible. My first negative encounter was in regards to an online payment, which was paid upon receipt of a statement last summer. Mercy lost the payment/failed to post it to my account and then threatened to turn me over to collections despite the proof of payment I submitted multiple times. It took months of calling, messaging, and escalating the situation to a supervisor to finally have the payment located in their system and get it posted appropriately to my account. It should not have been nearly as complex or time consuming to solve the issue as they made it out to be. Their staff seems completely clueless and careless every time I have contacted them. When you send a message via the portal you will get a very generic response that they probably copy and paste 100 times a day so don't even bother. Now, 9 months after the birth of my child, I have been erroneously billed for the full charges due to Mercy's inability to correctly process our medical claims. I have been monitoring the claim status on my end for months. I have sent messages and made phone calls to check in on the situation and I get nowhere and nothing. Mercy has never made an attempt to reach out to me to provide any information (or to advise if anything is needed from me, I have no idea?) I have wasted countless hours on the phone with my insurance carrier trying to deal with something that should not be my responsibility in the first place. New parents have enough to deal with; medical bills and insurance issues should not be added to the list. Unfortunately it seems Mercy has no compassion for their patients in this situation and does the absolute bare minimum on behalf of their patients. So be warned, if your claim doesn't pay and any type of effort may be required on their part, they will not handle it and you will be left to clean up the mess. If you are unfamiliar with how to handle insurance claims and issues then you are really going to be in trouble because you will have no one in your corner. Please beware of this hospital if you do not enjoy receiving surprise bills for tens of thousands of dollars and/or spending hours on the phone trying to get the bills...
Read moreUtterly ridiculous. I was referred to the Mercy ER by a primary care provider due to complaints of abdominal pain and a history of a digestive disorder. Unfortunately my experience there was well below an acceptable standard of care. Where to start?
Upon entering, the triage nurse was very discourteous, and seemed to think I shouldn't be there, even though I had been referred by a primary care provider who felt that my situation warranted immediate treatment. I was informed that I could not eat or drink due to tests that they "might" do. After having waited over two hours, I was beginning to feel weak, as I had not been able to drink water for the past 18 hours. When my husband advised the triage nurse of my situation, she informed him that she literally could not help me until I fainted and lost consciousness.
When I was finally seen for treatment, the MD was also exceptionally rude. He ran a basic blood panel and a pregnancy test (thanks, doc), then said that because my CBC/Chem was within normal limits, I would not be treated further. Even though he was aware that I was (and still am) in excruciating pain, unable to eat solid foods, and can barely swallow liquid. He was "considerate" enough to give me a referral to a gastroenterologist, who will be able to see me in a few months. Am I supposed to hibernate until then? He was [unsurprisingly] discourteous, demeaning and had an utter disregard for his patients' well-being.
The icing on the cake is that the doctor prescribed me medications I was already taking (as indicated by my chart) and codeine. Who the hell takes codeine for stomach problems? Did he think that I was just there for pills and that that would shut me up? The reason is unclear, but carelessly prescribing narcotics did it in for me.
When reflecting upon this experience, I recalled taking my dog to the vet for similar problems (vomiting, loss of appetite, history of GI problems). My dog received an exponentially better standard of care. They were ready and willing to run all kinds of diagnostics (CT, barium swallow etc), it cost less money, it took less time, and she was treated with far more respect.
Sufficed to say, I will not be back. When a dog gets a better standard of care, you know...
