There needs to be an option for 0 stars, because this hospital does not even deserve one. I was so upset to visit my cousin who is at a very serious stage of cancer at the moment. Just walking into the hospital it looks like it is ready to close. It is dirty and there is trash everywhere as if housekeeping is non existent there. I wish I had taken more pictures besides the one attached. This here is just the beginning of my complaints. I will say that the nurse and the social worker at the time I was there were great, but the rest of the staff were terrible. The doctors were clueless to my cousin's treatment or situation in general. They wanted to discharge her without any home care instructions or concern of her state. The oncologist's (Joan L Walker, MD) bedside manner was terrible. If it wasn't for my cousin asking the doctors to actually look at her wound, they would have not and even then they barely got close to her. I truly do not understand how she is rated so highly or even considered "one of the best" basically in the area since there isn't anything else in the area. The children section of the hospital seemed nicer but the main hospital is a dirty, old, empty hospital. I pray my cousin or anyone I know never has to return to such a disgraceful place.

I took my wife to OU medical ER at 700NE 13th st in OKC, Tuesday Sept 16th for a dog bite to the face. After 4 hrs in the ER they sewed up her nose and sent her home with only a script for antibiotics. Nothing for pain. She had the most terrible night, and at one point she said she just wanted to die. HEARTBREAKING! The pain was that bad. Her face swelled and one eye was swollen shut. The next morning I called the OU ENT department and informed them of what happened. They told me they contacted the surgeon and they would call me back. 24 hrs later, still no response. So it's now 2 days post surgery and I called again. After being placed on a long hold, I was told that they had contacted yet another Dr who was calling in the prescription as we speak. (No explanation as to why this happened.) Then 3 hrs later I called the pharmacy and they still had no orders for my wife. After I made sure they were sending it to the pharmacy I use! SO....back on the phone with OU ENT and they sent it to the WRONG PHARMACY. After waiting what should have been long enough for them to receive the new prescription, I call again and still no prescription was received. This level of incompetence is unacceptable. DO BETTER OU!!!

I have to say, I have had some bad experiences at this hospital due to lack of correct documentation of my seizure disorder. I often have seizure clusters that require me to go to the ER. I’m so relieved that a neurologist made it clear that I have epilepsy and need to be treated appropriately. This said neurologist even pulled up MRI images of my brain and really broke it down for me to understand my seizures better and the effects they’ve had on my brain, and explained to me what part of the brain is responsible for what. Even my previous neurologist outpatient didn’t do that. Since then, the nurses and doctors have been very kind. I just got home from a several hour observation in the ER and I couldn’t be more appreciative for the doctor that was on shift and the nurse that was assigned to me. Especially the nurse. He went above and beyond to make me feel safe when I was post-ictal and confused. If you or a loved one has epilepsy, I highly recommend coming to OU health. It is a level 4 epilepsy center and the only one in the state at that. Thank you so much OU! By the way, if you’re a hard stick like me, I assure you they’ll get it the first time. Outstanding hospital.

I am 21 years old and have been with OU Medical System as a patient for about 4 years now. I have a moderate/severe heart problem (bicuspid aortic valve) which, if not taken care of now, can lead to more problems down the road (hence why I am receiving treatment for it). In saying this, I had an ECHO done at the Physicians building on 10th Street on July 13, 2017. All was okay until about 3-4 hours later the same day, when my doctor calls my family and pleaded with my mom to take me to this sorry excuse of an ER, and that it could NOT wait. He told us he set us up to go there for a CT scan as a precaution, as he did say the ECHO could have been a fluke and they would be expecting us. So I met up with my mom to take me to the ER, and once we got to the front of the parking lot we see 2 cars in front of us, waiting to get in to park. Why, you ask? Because of a useless parking arm that was BROKEN, it couldn't raise to get them in, even after the person in front took their ticket. The person in the booth tried to get it up, but couldn't. Eventually, they had to call their "Supervisor" (their professional job title for "maintenance guy") to see to the problem. Once he arrived, I noticed this was the same man who was working on what seemed to be the same problem as I arrived here last year for an ECHO. Seems that this maintenance guy is always here fixing this?!?! Anyway, after all of this, we finally get inside after parking to come up to the nurse with the computer at the front. After I told him my situation and why I arrived, with a clueless look he glared at me like I was an alien from outer space. I was then put into triage and here we are still trying to explain to the other nurses, they are again ALSO clueless as to why we came in, but at least willing to help me out for as much as they know. Eventually I come to the lab area where they had to put an IV in for the CT scan. They were trying to find a big vein in one of my arms (which for me personally is a challenge). They started in my left arm in two different spots, they failed. Then they got to a better vein in my right arm and put the needle in. After getting poked with a needle three different times, 1. I start passing out for about a few seconds, 2. convulse, 3. sweat like I never sweat before, 4. start getting nauseous, 5. barely puked. I was so drained I needed and begged for water to drink, and I got a little, but still wanted more. I also needed a wheelchair to get from the lab to the waiting area before we got to an individual room. I was then taken in for a small procedure before the CT scan, then taken back to my room. Later, I got the CT scan done and got sent back to my room while they looked at the results to see if there was truly anything abnormal to be concerned about. A lady comes out, then finally says everything came out normal, and then explained to us that they all thought from the ECHO that the aortic valve DISSECTED!!! However, she said you wouldn't use an ECHO to find this problem, but a CT SCAN!!!! There was NOTHING to be worried about, but based on the fact I have a heart problem, I can understand the concern; it isn't anything you wait on. From entering to leaving, this whole process could have gone much easier.

I had to go to this hospital because my cardiologist is with OU. He is a nice, professional guy and everything, but this hospital doesn't do things effectively. We are going to hopefully see if we can switch to Oklahoma Heart Hospital (Mercy). Once that is done, we won't...

I had a kidney stone yesterday and I couldn't sit, stand, lay down or stand up strait.i knew I had it before. I had to go to the ER and so this time I did the same thing. After being in the hospital for an hour or 2 I had passed the stone and was feeling better little anyway..so I told the nurse that I wanted to smoke a cigarette and she said I couldn't go..then I said I was leaving and she said that if I do I'll have to go threw the whole thing of going threw it again to be admitted. SO at around 9.00pm on Dec 8th I returned to the ER. EVeryone that has come in after me no matter what was going on with them has went back and I'm still sitting here waiting to go back..I was told that they trying to get a bed for me witch is a lie cause all the beds aren't full and I know that I'm being put to sit here cause it isn't in the time that I've been sitting here the staff wanted to talk to me out the side of there face to me and lie to my face and when I told her she was lying to me she couldn't say anything else but to walk away.then trailed to say that I was cursing ...really yall just mad cause I caught you lying to me and put it in your face and they didn't like it but lying is not the point I'm still sitting here in limbo for no reason but to make it longer for me to sit here and be uncomfortable and no way to be helped. It's not right it is 12.36 am on the 9th day of December and it's not busy in the ER. And I'm still sitting here and now the 3 nurses are what mad at me cause they the ones that were lying to me and I caught them..lie better if u going to get that mad if you were caught...I'm not being mean ...I'm just being Right..I'm here because I was told to come back to be admitted and I'm know that other people are putting in 2 cents that don't have anything to do with medical field and I am being screwed over and it's not right the people that are accessing my medical charts shouldn't be and the are so passesed the HIPA Law now O.U.Has dropped the ball and put my medical in danger and me in danger by leaving me sit here and only come to take blood pressure 1 time since I got here and haven't even close to talking to me about anything but to be nasty to me for busting her in a bullfaced lie strait to my face...yup it's not right and it's not right to do to someone that is disabled and on disability.for brain troma..I've been having bad problems with memory and now I'm being made to look like I'm just a nobody. And I feel like they have me at a no priority and still sitting and waiting for to be admitted in to the hospital..I'm again have no voice and that's what they are focusing on to show me thanks staff of OU.medical ...have a nice...

I see why this hospital has such bad reviews. As soon as you walk in and all throughout the place there is a unpleasantly tense atmosphere. Most of the people that work here seem to be unprofessional, unskilled, lacking in basic human interaction skills, medical students. Most everyone is disconnected and somewhat rude with an attitude. There is a lack of signs and directions in the parking garage and in the hospital also. No maps. You ask for directions or any question in general, actually, most people that work in this hospital either look annoyed or don't have a clue of what you're asking them even though they work there every day. Also I get the distinct impression that most of the people that work there don't know what they're doing a 100% and so that lack of knowledge and professionalism gap is filled in with a negative condescending type of attitude that is somehow the accepted norm there. In my opinion Saint Anthonies is a way better hospital than OU Medical Center. Of course it doesn't take much to beat OU medical center And all the uncaring medical students working there, doctors an unprofessionalism and just sucks...bad. That is of course unless you have a penchant for less professional, less knowledgable hospital staff, in a generally tense, unhelpful and unpleasant environment. OU Medical Center at northeast 13th street in Oklahoma City, would be the last hospital I would go to. I would never choose to go there for ANY reason. I feel sorry for the people that unfortunately get roped in to going in there. I'll never go to that hospital. I wouldn't wish this hospital on my worst enemy. I couldn't figure out why they have signs on a lot of the doors inside the hospital saying "no violence allowed" when I've never seen that at any other hospital. I have a sneaky suspicion that maybe they've had a problem with that because they don't take care of their patients. That is my most discerning, honest, personal opinion and review of OU Medical Center. Considering all these really bad issues and the fact that they're in debt, their stock is becoming junk, and their professional ratings are plummeting, I predict this hospital will be shut down completely sometime in the near future. You reap what you sow. I hope this review might be of...
