!!!!! BEWARE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE !!!!!
Came into the shop for a brake issue. Made them aware of a diagnostic code that was popping up on my car plus the issue of having my brakes lock on me. They assessed my car and said that it looks like I need new pads and rotors plus one of my calipers was seizing which was causing the issue. I asked if the code, which was related to a brake booster pressure sensor, could be the issue instead of needing new brakes. They told me that replacing the brake pads, rotors, and the one caliper would solve the issue. They told me point blank that sometimes brakes could lock and be fixed through a brake fluid flush, which they did as well.
They called me back over 4 hours later, after originally saying it would take 1.5-2 hours to complete. Not a huge issue as I did not have anything going on, however if you give someone a time frame for a issue to be resolved you should at least provide them with a courtesy call to let them know it is taking longer than anticipated. On this call they tell me that my brakes were still locked and they could not fix the issue. They have reason to believe the brake booster could be the issue... SHOCKER. I only told them this before they even started to work on this and told me it was unlikely the issue.
So in order to fix the issue, they would have to send to another shop as they could not fix the issue OR EVEN RUN A DIAGNOSTIC?!?!? What kind of mechanic/repair/auto body shop can't run a diagnostic? They originally quoted me for over $1400 and took $400 off for this nonsense. I 100% was ripped off and let to believe they could return my car in good order and that was NOT the case. I still had to put out almost $1k for a service that did not resolve the issue I originally came in for.... Now, they were nice in allowing me to keep my car on their property until Monday when it could be towed at no expense to me. This was the only nice thing I have to say about my experience here.
Beware of this place folks, as it seems to me that they like to scam people into doing work before fully diagnosing the issue properly. They tried putting me in the wrong the whole time and only apologized after I had to argue with them in front of other customers.
I will never be going to another Mavis EVER AGAIN.
ADDITIONAL UPDATE AS OF 9/18: After not driving my car for 12 days and finally getting the issue fixed, I started to hear a rattle sound from the wheel on my front driver side. While I was driving I heard what I thought was a piece of metal fall off. The rattle sound became worse after this. Turns out, the caliper bracket bolts were NOT tightened all the way. One of two was completely gone and the other was loose and about to fall out.
After showing them video evidence of this and explaining how this could have caused physical harm to myself or others on the road, the regional manager only offered a store credit or to replace the caliper with a brand new one. It's just sad they won't even attempt to rectify the issue and make it right but just issuing a full refund since the work was obviously not done correctly.
AGAIN WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE - THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT...
Read moreChanging my review since I needed it for a discount. Paid 990$ for rear brakes, caliber, rotor and oil change. The original price was 1180$. They originally were supposed to only do rear brakes and oil change only. Since I am a woman, with little to no knowledge of course they try to charge me as much as possible telling me I need all this extra stuff when I really don’t. You’re better off going to a dealership to make sure it’s done faster than 6 hours. It is basically the same price as the dealership so you might as well just go there. This is my first impression of this Mavis after going to the Marlboro one, but I decided to check this one out just to see if they were reliable. I dropped my car off at 10 AM. It was not done until almost 6 o’clock at night. They have a sign posted on their wall that it’s $150 per hour of service on my bill did not state that thankfully but they can easily up charge you however much they want. I understand this is how they make money but still. It is a Tuesday so it should not be that busy to take six hours to do these jobs. Don’t tell them anything such as if your brakes are making noise or anything else they can charge for if they tell you they’re doing something for free no, they’re not. They’re just giving you “discounts” to “add up” to the price of what they are doing. Aka they tell you that your brakes have a discount your rotors have a discount and everything has a discount is that they’ll throw in a brake bleed for free along with the discounts but in reality those discounts just add up to the brake bleed so you’re paying for it. Do not let them do anything else to your car unless you wanna be up charged to the max. They act like they’re giving you discounts but they’re not. Front desk men just stare at you like you have 10 heads when you ask them to explain the price. Also they try to show you what they’re doing to your car to make it feel like you may need these extra services but in reality they’re just up charging you as much as possible. Just take your car...
Read moreToday would have been a horrible day had it not been for the team at Mavis on Rt 9 North & Spring Valley Rd in Old Bridge, NJ. I had been away on vacation and during that time, my tire deflated down to the rim. NOLTENS from Mavis saw me drive up and immediately helped me in the parking lot. He pulled my car in and onto the lift and showed me that the tire had a large screw in it. He also explained "the ring of death" on the tire that the sidewall was destroyed and the tire was not patchable. I appreciated that he took the time to explain how this happens to me and why it was unsafe to patch the tire (and that it wouldn't work anyway). NOLTENS did a great job in calming me down as I was so nervous that I did more damage to the car since I drove it without knowing the tire was flat. The manager, JOVANNI, sourced a new replacement tire for me and was able to have it delivered this afternoon. The tire was installed and the other 3 tires checked and there were no other nails/screws/etc in the tires. JOVANNI was able to price match the tire for me as I actually had just replaced it at the local Honda dealership only 20 days ago! It took Mavis and JOVANNI only a few hours to get the specialty 19" tire while I waited 3 weeks for the Honda dealership to get it in stock, and then another few days to get an appointment. The Mavis team truly impressed me with their superior customer service and excellent ability to explain what happened/what needed to be done to fix it/what my options were/how much it would cost/how long it would take. On top of that, JOVANNI offered me a ride home while they worked on my car since I live in the neighborhood right behind the shop. I believe that JOVANNI and his team are going the extra mile to support their customers and they can count our family as loyal customers for the infinite future. Great job Mavis Team and from the bottom of my...
