I have been going to Cafe Monster for a few years now and happy to see it grow and evolve. The owners are some of the friendliest people around, happy to chat when they are available, and I have even seen one of them sit down with someone new to Magic and play a game with them to help teach them.
The atmosphere, though load at times, is very laid back and welcoming. I've been to some of the other shops and felt ignored and unwanted by the staff an others playing there. That has never been an issue here, its always been the opposite.
They have always been more than fair with trade ins i have brought in, helped me to find cards, and offer incite or help my to understand mechanics and game play. Their prices have always been fair when it comes to singles, packs, or bundles.
I love the Mystery Commander decks that one of the owners make and sell at times, they are cheap and yet still able to hold up in most pods. The freebee give away's that do at times when games are being play are very nice and always leave people smiling and happy.
The food has been delicious every time, and the drinks have never been disappointing or lacking, aside from wanting more after finishing one.
My only negative about the store is that i wish they had a bigger location, but i still love it all the same.
Overall, i will continue to frequent this shop, as well as recommend it to people i...
Read moreI really wanted to like this shop. It’s got a great setup and is honestly better than the card shops near me. I drove over 30 minutes through traffic to check it out again, hoping to get signed up for the Final Fantasy prerlease.
But I was turned away for bringing in my personal water bottle, one with a secure, lockable lid. While people inside were drinking from open containers. I understand the shop also functions as a café and provides free water, but the policy felt inconsistently applied.
Later I saw a Discord message from the owner (from a while back) addressing this exact issue, and while it wasn't directed at me, the tone felt defensive rather than understanding. It seems like this isn’t the first time someone has been confused or frustrated by the rule, and it doesn’t seem like much has changed since.
In the end, I left instead of putting my bottle in a hot car — and after another 45 minutes in traffic, it just didn’t feel worth it. I hope they consider clarifying or revisiting this policy. A little more flexibility or consistency could go a long way toward making the space more welcoming for...
Read moreI was on the lookout for a new hobby and remembered how much I enjoyed playing Magic: The Gathering. I thought it would be great to meet some new people in the area. Several folks suggested checking out this shop, and my experience has been fantastic. The staff is incredibly helpful, whether it’s finding specific cards or giving advice on brewin. They have the best selection of cards in Omaha.
The shop has plenty of space, creating a welcoming environment where you can just hang out and enjoy yourself. But the real highlight is the community. Everyone is genuinely friendly, and if you’re playing Commander, you’ll likely have several people eager to join in. While there are definitely some unique personalities, the overall atmosphere is warm and inviting. I’ve visited other card shops, and while Omaha has a great Magic community, this place truly feels...
