Ugh I wanted sooo bad to love this place unfortunately there was just too many things wrong with our first experience we won’t be back. First of all, we ordered a lot of crab Rangoon & was given 2 packets of bad sweet & sour (technically it was cheap duck sauce) so we couldn’t finish those and they were just ok. Next, ALL of our bao buns had literally a teaspoon of meat in each. We were left throwing away the bread part. There was also supposed to be scallions on our potstickers and there was none. Finally and worse of all were were so excited to try the custard bao buns after having them before in New York I couldn’t wait to get some here. Wrong. They were hard in the center and tasted like they had been sitting for a long time. The custard (supposed to be creamy) had hardened! I am just hoping I don’t get sick from that last bite. So now I’m back to wishing for a descent bao bun place in Omaha.

I had the pleasure of dining at Hip Bao recently, and overall, I found the food enjoyable. I opted for the chicken and beef bao and the vegetable noodles. The bao was pleasantly warm and soft, but the small bits of meat inside did not quite meet my expectations. I felt that the ratio of meat to dough was a bit off, and I would have preferred more filling. As for the veggie noodles, I found them to be quite bland, with a disappointing vegetable-to-noodle ratio. Even with the addition of sauces, the dish did not come to life, and the veggies did not contribute much to the overall flavor. I plan on returning to try some of their other bao and noodle options. However, the veggie noodles, in particular, were a bit lackluster for my taste. The price was fair compared to other restaurants.

There's a reason my family keeps coming back to Hip Bao. When it comes to entrees, the noodle dishes are exceptional; my husband always orders the beef noodle soup, and I tend to get the Beijing pork noodles. The broth, meat, and noodles are all flavorful and abundant! But let's be honest, we're all here for the dumplings! We haven't had a bad plate yet. The fried pork bao and the beef potstickers are both family favorites, and we always order the taro bao or red bean bao when we want something just a little bit sweet. And can we PLEASE talk about those earth-shatteringly crispy scallion pancakes? Heaven on earth. Many thanks to the staff at Hip Bao for serving up such wonderful food. For as long as you keep this quality, we'll keep coming back!

Have you ever wished to order food and receive exactly what it looks like in the menu picture? This is that place.

FOOD The Beijing noodles looked so good that my mouth was watering even as I ordered them. When they came out, after my journey through the plethora of delicious buns, it looked identical to the picture on the menu, and even managed to taste BETTER than my expectations. The amount of delightful juicy meat on those noodles is incredible. It's the first and only noodle dish that I've ordered at any restaurant which started and finished with the same amount of meat in every bite. Very impressive.

SERVICE The service could not be better. The lady who always serves me and my friends gives us great recommendations, brings out some free extras, and is just overall very pleasant and welcoming.

ATMOSPHERE Very clean. No issues with how it looks, but it's not really an impressive sight. Sometimes, the focus is just on the food and the experience. This is one of those places. It doesn't look fancy, but the food sure makes up for any issues you might have with being in a clean, somewhat average looking environment.

PRICES I have always had a ton of food here, and I usually have to take a bunch home, but I've never spent very much money. It's pretty awesome how much food you get for the price, considering the high quality of each bite. When looking at the pictures, I expected to pay a decent amount, but I was very pleasantly surprised. My first time here, I spent maybe 50 bucks for 3 people. And we had extra food. The prices are great. I can only hope this place stays on business as long as I live here. I recommend it to...

I'm so confused. We ordered Hip Bao in September of 2020 and it was DELICIOUS. I wrote a rave review right after dinner and gave them 5 stars. But, suspiciously, my review, and all reviews prior to two months ago (Feb/March 2021) have disappeared from Google. Are they under new ownership? If so, that would explain the disappointing meal we just had. We could only stomach half of what we ordered and threw the rest away. The food was so different from what we ordered 8 months ago. Today the dumplings were very greasy with unpleasant tough, thick, and stodgy wrappers, and the meat fillings were under seasoned and sparse. Completely different from what we ordered 8 months ago! Frozen dumplings from the store are better than these! I was SO EXCITED about this place after our first meal there 8 months ago, and so excited to support a local restaurant producing excellent handmade dumplings, but now...
