Denny & Son/ Denny's Upholstery came highly recommended, so I corresponded with Jim via email to receive a quote for 3 bar stool seats and 2 dining chairs. A family member had used Denny & Son last month to recover bar stool seats at $35/seat. She voluntarily had the foam padding replaced for an additional $15/seat (total = $50/seat). Jim quoted me $60/seat (does NOT include foam padding). I thought the quote was a mistake - how could the price jump over 70% in one month?! I followed up to clarify. Jim confirmed there was no mistake and added a new cost: since I'm bringing my own fabric, he would now "increase" the price (he didn't name the new price in his response - ridiculous). My next project was quoted at $465/dining chair, astronomically higher than the next closest bid I've received. The same ambiguous "increase" applies to the dining chairs, too. Jim's tone was incredibly off putting and rude - enough to turn me away, regardless of the prices. Save yourself the misery and money: avoid Denny &...
Read moreI asked Denny and Son for a quote to reupholster two larger accent chairs via email. The quote was emailed to me the next business day. Denny was so patient with me as I picked out fabric, and he advised me against fabrics that wouldn't quite work with the chair contours (even though the fabrics were more expensive). The quote was honored. I was a little worried that there wasn't enough fabric quoted because a different business quoted me saying I would need 6 more yards of fabric than Denny & Son said it would require given the same dimensions. They put me on the schedule for 5 weeks out, but called a week later saying they had an opening. The chairs were done 4 days later-- almost 4 weeks ahead of schedule. They are beautiful. They did a great job with the double piping and the complicated back of the chairs. And... there was about a yard of extra fabric. I am so happy. The cost was very reasonable, but it did reflect the value of their work. I highly...
Read moreI’m so glad I went to Denny & Son Upholstery! I received this super cool vintage barrel chair from my mom, and it needed to be reupholstered. She’d been storing it for 30+ years, and it was damaged from a cat as well. The chair looks so amazing now! I’m very impressed they did this job so well, and all by hand no less. This is a super unusual chair and all the detailing around the brass tacks, lining, folds...it’s all beautiful. I thought their prices were in line with what I expected. It’s a 2-man shop: father and son. They do seem very busy, so I had to schedule my work and wait a few weeks to get it back (that was no problem, this work wasn’t urgent!). They have many many fabrics for you to pick from. Phone call seems to be the best way to reach them; don’t hesitate to follow up if needed. Like I said, they’re busy, but it’s definitely worth it to go in and talk to them about...
