The second debacle I had with Helzburgs started with my purchase of a $500 Citizen PCAT watch in November 2019. Very, very long story, it stopped working THREE TIMES. Three times I took it in to the Helzberg store at Oakview Mall. (This watch has a 5 year warranty!)
Unfortunately, being a satellite type of watch (PCAT) it needs light nonstop, not just several hours of daylight) At one point, a store salesman took in the watch to keep for 2days. He called me back a week later, saying he'd had it in sunlight and it "is working fine". Guess my home light isn't good enough, in that once I picked it up, a day later, stopped working again. See a theme here? I know, $500 isn't a ton of money. My card limit is only $3000 and I'm not a huge money-maker for Helzberg. But I did expect to some day, somehow, have a nice working watch. The Oakview Mall store manager, Kristen, said I was threatening to start trouble and she had done all she could do. If trouble means getting fair treatment, yep, I'm trouble.
Finally with it not working again, I've proceded up the chain of command to their phone based "customer care". NO HELP. After over 29 emails and phone calls, the phone rep said that the Omaha district manager declined to allow an in-person exchange for even a less expensive Citizen. I'm a pretty good guy, hold my temper, and try to be aware of what common sense tells me. BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS. Read moreI will never return to Helzbergs. My ring has been wrong not once, not twice but now 3 times! Most recently I have been without my ring since 11.11 and it was just returned to me 1.2. My ring was originally soldered together and made way to small, it was then 'fixed' by the same jeweler needless to say he slapped it together and the rings where not straight. This last time I took it to another location with an in-house jeweler(the Dimond in my ring is my grandmothers I will never allow it to be sent somewhere) the informed me that the gold in the tang was to thin and would have to be replaced and this would take time, I was fully aware that this repair would take longer than standard. When a month passed I had heard nothing about my ring so I called the store, the store manager explained that they had to order 18k white gold to fix my ring properly and it was not in yet, fine, BUT why was I not kept informed that this would take even longer than planned AND you are a National jewelry store. The manager and I agreed to an update call on 12.29, big surprise no call. I called on 1.1 and no one in the store knew anything. The store called my husband 1.2 and said the ring was ready. Upon pick up of the ring it is still not as straight as I believe it should be. I do not recommend it. I had a bad experience with them and never again will I purchase anything from Helzberg. They just trick you basically with the promotions they supposedly have. We recently purchased 3 rings during a promotion they were having and what they fail to mention is that they have 3 different plans you can do, but you still have to BUY the plan, how does that make sense? Had they explained to me when we were purchasing the rings that there were 3 different plan options for the promotion and explained how each one worked, I would not have been in the situation I am now, paying basically double the total price of the rings. They were obviously more concerned on making a sale than making sure their customers got the best deal and all the information they needed for this “promotion”. I looked for help in customer service and none could help me fix this problem because the “12 months of the promotion was over”. This has never happened to me with any company, until now.
