Only shop with TJ Maxx if you have NO possibility of needing a refund.
Very poor customer service at this store on January 25. The manager on duty scoffed at my desire for a refund on a new, unused item purchased around Christmas, then told me that they shouldn't even return the item at all. The tone and attitude was extremely unwelcoming, condescending and absolutely does not create a positive environment for customers. The staff has no ability or desire to go above and beyond for a customer of 10 years. I called the national customer service number to share my experience, who gave my message to the store manager. When I spoke with him, he repeated multiple times that the store policy had been followed-- again, unable or unwilling to provide a refund.
It was such an uncomfortable interaction with the management that I can not return TJ Maxx.
If retailers read these, please empower your staff to accomplish the needs of the customers! I find it hard to believe that a retailer is willing to lose such a long term customer over...

The staffing was kind of low I didn't see anybody out on the floors and two people cashiering. I bought a small purse that was on sale got a couple bucks off from the price they had on it. Once I got in my car and tried to fill it to see what I could fit inside it I saw that the locking mechanism on the front was broke. I received a baby gift purchased here and checked to make sure TJ Maxx had the exact same model, however this store would not accept my return because it didn't have a specific "TJ Maxx tag" stuck on it. The woman insisted that I come back with the receipt for the item... I don't necessarily want to go back to the nice person who purchased my gift for me and tell her I need to return it.
