We had a 4 night stay at the San Carlos unit 902. We come down every summer, but this will be the last time we will use My Beach Getaways. The condo was clean and views were gorgeous, however, our first night there I called about a broken shower head and was told I would get a call back from the maintenance team. Never received a call back, and ended up going to Walmart and just buying a new shower head to use. The second night we were woken up by a faulty fire alarm at 5:30am. Obviously shaking up everyone of us. I called the emergency maintenance number, the lady that answered tried to reach the maintenance team and said they aren't answering but that she would have them call me back. Again never received a call back. Then upon returning to the condo later that night around 8:00, the fire alarm went off again, sending my 8 year old into a panic attack. When I called that time, the lady on the phone even heard my son crying hysterically in the background. My brother in law had to take the batteries out of the smoke detectors to get the noise to stop so we could calm my son down. The lady on the phone said to just leave them without the batteries and maintenance would come the next day to fix the issue. After finally getting my son calmed down enough to sleep, he woke up from nightmares the next 2 nights. Then to top it all off, the day before we checked out, they changed the key code to get in the room a day early, so when we came back from dinner, we couldn't get in the room. Then of course no answer when I called the emergency maintenance number, my daughter had to go hunt someone down in the office area to come give us a master keycode that would work for the rest of our stay. As many times as we have stayed in Gulf Shores, we have never had to deal with this level of ridiculousness. So disappointed.
Edit: while I appreciate you responding to this review, your information is inaccurate. The fire alarm was absolutely not fixed the same day it was reported the first or second time. The battery was replaced in only one of the 3 alarms, the next day. The other 2 were not fixed until later when maintenance was there to fix the keycode and i told him only 1 had been replaced. The shower head was reported within a couple hours of our arrival. Instead of trying to justify things, your time might be better spent looking into the disconnect between the operators and the...
Read moreGot to stay 3 nights out of 6. Complex had a fire 2 weeks before our stay. They shut off from the 8th floor up and still let people come and stay. We arrived on Saturday evening and had to argue to get the 4th parking pass we paid for. Condo was nice right on beach. On Tuesday the only day we got to spend on beach a random guy walks up and says the power will of from 2p to 6p so we all made plans to grill out no big deal. The power goes off about 540pm and never comes back on. First it was it'll be off till 830pm then it's we don't know then they tell us to evacuate since it's unsafe at 10pm. So now we have little kids and baby and 9 adults packing by flashlight. Packing up groceries and coolers trying to find somewhere to go. Got less than half our money back on condo. No reimbursement for food or gas. ZERO attempt at trying to find us another place to go. First vacation in 3 years RUINED. All because they didn't take the time to relocate us 2 weeks before we came or give us our money back 2 weeks beforehand so we could've found another rental. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND LAZY. Added after response: Inadequate communication and lack of assistance???? That came from you all. NOT from the poor maintenance guy that kept calling you with no answer. They knew the electrical box was fried from attempting to fix the dehumidifier for the building. Yet it was deemed "safe"??? Last time I checked water and electricity aren't a safe combo. You should have NEVER let anyone stay there if any major system in the building was planned to be worked on. The office was open all day long before the power went out conveniently after your office closed. Accommodation definitely could've been made at some other place seeing how many other places in the orange beach and Gulfshores area were open and available to rent the very next day. Trust me I looked at your site. But with rates increasing you stood to lose money by moving people somewhere else. But all of that could've been AVOIDED by simply picking up the phone and giving your CUSTOMERS A CHOICE to either stay elsewhere thru your service or give them all off their money back so they could go book thru a different company. It's sneaky and...
Read morePlease do not waste your money here! We arrived after a long drive to a condo that was not clean. The floors were terribly dirty. Hairs and hairballs all throughout the bedrooms and bathrooms, sticky spots on the floor in the kitchen. Bath mats had what appeared to be pizza sauce, stains, and hairs all over them. Crusty utensils in the drawers (which the company blamed on the prior guests, informing me it was the previous guests responsibilty to clean dishes and that the cleaner/inspector didnt have time to check everything.) There were pistachios, candy, and popcorn on the floor in the living area. This was very concerning considering we had a toddler with us. We were told the condo had been cleaned AND inspected, which is what is so disappointing! Their excuse was, " I'm sorry ma'am, we are only human." We were told that someone would try to come finish cleaning within the next half an hour or so, but they had multiple properties to turn over and didnt know where the cleaning team was. (We called multiple times as soon as we checked in at 3) Nothing was done until 7 oclock that evening when a very nice lady finally arrived while we were eating dinner to clean. By that time we had already vaccuumed and cleaned the condo ourselves as we had small children that we did not want crawling all over the dirty floors. The customer service was TERRIBLE. The managers were apologetic, but quite rude about the situation, placing blame on others instead of accepting responsibilty. No one ever called back to make sure the issue was resolved, even in the next few days. They also did not respond to the emails I sent with photos of the mess. (I sent them thru emails i they had sent so Im fairly certain they got them.) I was incredibly disappointed in the company after spending almost 600 a day after all fees (including a cleaning fee.) It is their responsibilty as property managers to ensure a clean condo and good customer service. Apparantly, after reading reviews, this has happened before. We did make the most of our vacation and will certainly come back to Orange Beach, just NOT with...
