Not a ideal place to play magic or any card game even though they sell plenty of product. Don't allow casual play just draft or sealed events . Incredibly small even for store events they claim to hold . Would rather recommend cool stuff , geek'd or colosseum of comics . Update as of 8/23/25 game this place a second chance to browse the bulk and singles and the bulk is off limits even though they have a ton of it collecting dust in-store . Asked they owner why he won't sell it and did not get a clear answer other than he would have to pay someone to sort and price it out, he would rather go to cool stuff and dump it all there, by that logic he would still have to sort everything out for cool stuff . Non of the rares are priced out so what would have been the difference if I select some bulk singles for you to price out anyways I'm not sure what was going through his mind but he got really defensive about it, I also asked about if he has any other magic product and he did some vintage packs/boxes from 2015s ish but they were not for sale rather he was just sitting on them to hopefully gain value over time. Not really sure why he would even mention it if it's not for sale and him knowing I was looking to buy and also asked about events once again and he was very firm that if they host more events or casual play that people won't buy anything . Overall this place feels like it's a store owned by a hoarder who uses it to display his collection but doesn't actually sell anything, yet at times I see other reviews on here claiming he doesn't have the space for anything else or events . Maybe if you reorganize and take the stuff that's not for sale out you might have room for actual business and consider putting other cards for sale people would buy it. Upon entering the near-desolate premises with the intent of inquiring about independent distribution, I approached the front of the store and politely asked, “Could you please explain the process for an independent comic book author to be considered for placement here?”

The man, who identified more with the temperament of a retired USPS employee than that of a curator of narrative culture, emerged from the rear and, without solicitation for detail, context, or dialogue, declared flatly: “I have no space.”

This pronouncement—devoid of inquiry into volume, logistics, or even a cursory attempt at engagement—was offered as a final verdict. And then, he walked away.

I could have allowed the encounter to end there. But my curiosity — the same faculty that propels both scholarship and commerce — compelled me to wonder: By what metric had he assessed my worth, or my work’s relevance, without even a conversation?

The irony, of course, is not lost on me: a store with abundant visible vacancy, where foot traffic is scarce and inventory seems to languish in solitude, summarily dismisses potential contribution. The back of the store, an OSHA violation waiting to happen, is a precarious archive of cardboard towers and tripping hazards.

Nonetheless, I extend no malice. Perhaps this account will draw attention to the store’s existence — ideally from individuals of varied backgrounds and perspectives who might rediscover the joy of narrative art. Diversity in readership enriches any literary space. May this serve, in some indirect way, as a form of unintended promotion.

I have been going to living dead for about a year and I can safely and confidently say this is a safe space for women in comics and magic. I wanted to play and learn magic and Leigh was so amazing and talked with me about magic for probably an hour the first day. He’s answered all and any questions I’ve had since. The whole staff has been welcoming from the first day I went there and their attitude has never faltered even for a moment. As a woman in nerd spaces it can be uncomfortable and the men can be too much or too judgy or too touchy, but not living dead. 10/10 respect, 10/10 knowledge and 10/10 friendliness. Also 10/10 patience for stupid questions and me fan girling over the art on every card and being good sports and saying “yeah that’s cool!” To every single one I show them even though they have probably seen the cards a million times.
