I've been eyeing this bakery for months! We live in the neighborhood, and the "Coming Soon" sign has been eyeing me for weeks. And we're so happy that they are finally open today May 24 for their soft opening until they sell out. They were really busy with all the locals lining up to support them on their 1st day... so grateful for our community :)
We've been coming to this location for many years now when they were 2 different Thai restaurants. So now that it's a bakery, it's a nice change. When you walk in, it's pretty casual, no fuss decor, minimal, but clean. You can tell that there still may be some tweaks still coming.
As of now, they may not have their full menu yet. They are offering many donut options, along with house made croissants, coffee, espressos, and some breakfast sandwiches. They do have bagels, but sadly they're not made in house. My husband did try it, and he said it tasted fresh and was solid. The glaze donut was fresh, light, and pillowy... very good! We also got the croissant breakfast sandwich... the croissant was delicious, the filling was okay... after I added another egg at home with More-ish Sauce Co Sriracha, it definitely elevated the sandwich to amazing :) I'm hoping after the soft opening they will offer more bakery items, like the pictures they've already posted on Google... fingers crossed!
I will definitely come back again after their soft opening to see if they'll be more offerings. Happy to support local, small businesses, and I wish...
Read moreI drove past this place one day and then looked them up online, they hadn't opened yet but the Facebook page kept showing pictures of amazing breakfast pastries. So when I saw that they finally opened after all that teasing, I finally stopped in. I am so glad I did. I am always on the hunt for a great donut. This place did not disappoint, let me tell you. I picked two donuts, one chocolate with sprinkles and a vanilla with the fruity pebbles. These are nice sized donuts. They were still slightly warm. I broke my donut in half and took my first bite and it was delicious. The donut just like melted in my mouth. It was so soft, the donut was sweet. I was blown away. Like this place blow other places out of the water. They offer crafted drinks for coffee. I am not a coffee drinker but what I did see looked amazing, smelled amazing and I can only imagine tasted great. This is a locally owned business and I love to support locally owned businesses. I am going to happily go out of my way to stop here to buy donuts instead of going to dunkin. I made a suggestion of a cherry donut (like from back home, ode to Donutland in Cedar Rapids, IA) and the gal said she would share the suggestion with the owners. The place is CLEAN and cute. This is a great addition to Curry Ford and Orlando. If you get a chance, make sure to stop in. They open at 5:30 AM so that is perfect for me on my way to work. I am happy they are open and wish them the best of success!! Congrats and thanks for some...
Read moreI finally stopped into 88 Donuts after driving by for weeks, and I’m so glad I did! The shop sits back a little from the road, so if you don’t know it’s there, you might miss it, but there’s a nice, clear sign out front. It was quiet on this Tuesday morning, and there are a few cute little tables inside where you can sit and enjoy your treats.
The display case is full of delicious baked goods, and they have a really fun DIY donut concept: you choose your donut and fill it with any flavor you like. I went for the Key Lime Pie donut, which was absolutely delicious! I also tried their Apple Fritter, Monkey Bread–style donut, and a breakfast bread filled with sausage. That breakfast bread was surprisingly great, next time I’ll warm it up when I get home because I can tell it would be even better that way.
The donuts were fresh and flavorful, and the whole place has a charming, cozy vibe, perfect for a quick grab-and-go or to sit with a friend. They have a small selection of beverages too, which I’ll definitely try next time.
Jacob took care of me and was super friendly, he explained all the offerings in the display case and made me feel welcome. I’ll definitely be back...
