We were lucky enough to find La Fiesta Mexican Grill through some friends recommending to us, and are we ever THRILLED!
As SoCal born and raised, we are sort of judgemental when it comes to TRULY AUTHENTIC Mexican food; La Fiesta Mexican Grill completely 'checks every box' with excellent Mexican cuisine.
We have tried many delicious items off the menu and it is impossible to pick a 'favorite' so try them all, you'll be glad you ventured into something new!
We like to start with queso and guacamole which is served with freshly homemade salsa and handmade tortilla chips. The margaritas are huge and tasty, as is the wine and beer selections.
If you want to enjoy a little more before entree, the tortilla soup is AMAZING! Even a cup is almost a meal in itself, so plan on sharing.
The quesadilla Mexicana is EXCELLENT. I've tried every version [pulled-chicken, pork, beef, steak] and each is wonderful. The portion size is enough to share or take-away for tomorrow. Served with Mexican rice, [which I wish I could get the recipe for!], it's a great dinner!
Another meal we love is the Fajitas for two. Shrimp, chicken, steak, vegetables, flour tortillas, rice & beans! Absolutely WONDERFUL!
There is a nice selection of vegetarian dishes, which all sound excellent, but I have not tried those, yet.
Here's my best tip, and it wasn't until our fourth or fifth visit when our wonderful server said 'any dessert...burrito cheesecake...?' We very rarely, [actually never], order dessert, but there was something enchanting about the sound of 'burrito cheesecake.' One was enough for us to share and it is the perfect ending to a great dinner. It is one of the best desserts I have ever enjoyed! So, SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT!
The service is great, the food is AUTHENTIC, the ambiance casual and cross-generational, and they make you feel like a valued guest.
Though my SoCal family and friends will not like my next comment, I can say with great certainty, La Fiesta Mexican Grill IS without question, THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD NORTH OF...
Read moreMe and my BF went to eat earlier at this restaurant for the first time called La Fiesta Mexican Grill down Curry Ford, the food and vibes were fine, my only issue was towards the end when my bill was $76 and my bank card got charged for $91, when I brought it to my servers attention she explained she wasn’t sure why my card was charged that amount, she called her manager on the phone since it seems there wasn’t one in the restaurant, he explained that I had to call my bank because they only charge the amount we’re supposed to pay. My card was charged our bill plus 20% tip, I don’t have an issue with tipping 20% but don’t tell me you don’t charge 20% then charge me, I need to know if I’m already being charged for it. Some franchise like to charge tip in the bill, some guests aren’t aware about it and tip extra. Also my account says I was charged the $76 and it was adjusted to $91, so I’m not gonna write $15 on my tip when it was already taken, I’m not gonna lie I didn’t tip today because the whole situation was shady to me and I’m waiting a few days for my statement to settle to see if I was actually charged without permission. Because I’m pretty sure it is illegal, no where on my bill, or menu did it say they automatically charge 20%, my server even told me they don’t.
Update: I called my bank this morning and was informed that when the transaction was made, I was charged the $76 but they adjusted the payment. Which tells me I was charged 20% illegally! Ive been a server for years so I know what it’s like so rely on tips to survive, but to charge someone 20% without informing them especially when you already said you don’t force gratuity. I normally don’t like confrontation but if it’s okay for them to do it to me how knows who else they’ve...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I brought some friends of ours here to celebrate a joyous occasion. We heard from Orlando Weekly that this was the second best Mexican restaurant in Orlando, so we had to come check it out. The atmosphere is very nice. Spanish music setting the ambience and an outdoor patio area that looks like a good place to have a party.
We got our chips and salsa, which were pretty standard. I wish it was a little chunkier. Our table ordered drinks, which were served in miniature fish bowls. Then we ordered.
So my girlfriend got a combo plate of the chile relleno, the tamale, and the quesadilla. The relleno was pretty standard, the tamale was actually very nice; the cornmeal was very soft and moist and no dry and crumbly, and the quesadilla was very crispy and had an excellent filling:tortilla ratio that lead to no dripping out of toppings.
I ordered the combination fajitas, steak, chicken, and shrimp. The steak was what actually dropped this review from 5 stars to 4 stars. It was tough. I'm used to Mexican places knowing their way around a piece of flank steak, but this one was not enjoyable. The chicken and the shrimp, however, are the best I've had in many years. The chicken was perfectly moist and seasoned, and the shrimp was not overcooked, which is all I've ever wanted from my fajita.
The only other gripe I have is that the serving of rice and beans that came with my fajita was super small compared to other restaurants, but that balances out with the fact that I asked for extra tortillas to go and they didn't charge me for them.
Overall, wow, the bang for your buck at this place is extreme. The next time I want Mexican food, I will definitely be...
