Disabled American Veterans — Local services in Overland

I have tried talking to multiple different people through email, phone, and in person. I even paid for their membership hoping that would help out. They are never any help. From answering questions about disability claims, state benefits, medical assistance. They have always steered me wrong and not been able to answer my questions. When filing for disability I went in to ask a question about one of my claims. The VSO was unable to answer my question about my eye claim. He ended up filing an intent to file when I was there even though I didn't ask him to and he didn't ask me about it. This ended with me missing out on over $10k in back pay because they went off his ITF instead of the one I already submitted. I joined the DAV. Paid there fee. I was told that they could assist me with a VA claim. This location would never answer a phone call. They actually put the number to call on the voice mail (which is the same number that you call) but no option to leave a voice message. Very confusing (actually very unprofessional). Then after calling a phew times to figure out what is going on you decide to send a message. Which i did! The response was completely unprofessional. Not a hello I can discuss this with you...... nope the response was you need to sign over power of attorney to us and email us all of your VA paperwork, and that's it. Very unprofessional. I would not waist my money with the DAV they do not have veterans best...

These guys are respectful, knowledgeable and great at what they do. I think I spent more time dealing with the circus of a security checkpoint at the building entrance than I actually did at my appointment. On that note, come a little bit early because the security is more thorough than an airport. Make sure not to bring anything considered a weapon. I was denied entrance the first time because of my Leatherman multitool. Good thing security was so vigilant. Who knows how much damage I could've repaired had they let me pass with that behemoth of a weapon. But yeah, anyhow, the DAV...
