They always have the friendliest kids working the front of the house. However, when i want to buy smokes or lottery tickets, I go to where they sell them, which at no convenience to me or the kids is where the self checkout is. So I ring my items up. Then I have to get the attention of an employee, and they are more than happy to help until I inform them I need smokes and scratchers. It's like jamming a stick into the spokes on a bicycle. They need to locate an adult to fulfill my order. Typically, a manager or lead person, there is only ever one or zero present and available. Today's visit, they had to get on the horn. Luckily, there was an adult employee who sprang into action, even though she appeared to be done with her shift, clocked out, coat buttoned, hat and mittens on, and trying to get out the door. Good for her, way to take the initiative, hope she doesn't get in trouble for working off the clock. She was able to ring up my smokes with the rest of my items at the self checkout register. Hooray me, right? Almost. For reasons I'm not privy to, scratchers can not be purchased at self checkout, the aisle where they advertise, dis]play, stock, dispenser, and scan the value of winning ticket. Nope, not in that lane. Instead, I need to gather my bags and haul them with me as I cut through the lines of waiting people, all while trying to keep track of the employee as she ventures to the next available lane, aka the farthest lane away, and there we finally complete my purchase. My suggestion would be they should put a register on the other side of self checkout dedicated to tobacco and lottery, or get one of those scratcher ticket vending machines that the other grocers in town have. Hey, won my money back on...
Read moreGreat meat counter! Always the lowest prices on sale items in town. Good selection of items. The last few times I have been here, using the self check out. The people standing by are telling you what to do before you can complete your task. Ive been a grocery checker, I know what to do. Lately I seem to always have issues with the self check out, and none of the staff present even know how to run the register to correct the issue. I realize employees are sometimes scarce, but proper training is handy. Just left Fairway, the last few times I've been here the things I normally purchase are no longer available. Today I stopped inn and things again were not available. There were 4 ladies working up front, I had to bag my own groceries, I would have went to self checkout for that. I also noticed that prices are almost $1 less at other stores in town. Fairway used to be my go to store...not so...
Read moreI live in Waseca but love shopping here. This store is always super clean and odor free. There are always great bargain prices and is simply far more reasonable price wise to shop here than in Waseca. Enough cannot be said about the deli and meat counter. The staff is always friendly and very helpful and best if all is when you need someone you can actually find someone easily! Oh, and when I say clean I mean clean. Just check out the checkout belts at Waseca Hyvee and then check these belts out. It's great not having to put my food on...
