To add on to Mary Sneed… “the mean girl mentality is awful. One woman is getting a list of things to do, while the other three are just standing around talking when they are not in my personal space making me feel like a shoplifter when I am at the register. The others need to maybe realize high school is over for them.”
I get profiled regularly because of how I look, dress. I’m a chick with a wacky undercut, rock n roll hairstyle. I’m not disrespectful, I keep to myself and if I see something on the ground I pick it up and put it back where it goes. I don’t steal, I don’t make mess, I leave the store how I find it. I tried to shop there 3 times in the past few weeks and wanted to scan my own stuff, they violated my boundaries and accused me, my mother of being mean/rude and a whole boatload of stuff, even lying about new company policies and taking them out of context overboard and made up “rule” that don’t exist. But rules or not, you still have to adhere to the Americans with disabilities act laws & guidelines. Disregard for such laws & guidelines is grounds for a lawsuit from not only the federal government, but the customer too. I have sensory issues (ADHD, Autism, cptsd) and I don’t like people crowding me while checking out or people touching the things I want to buy while I’m at the register. If I want your help, I’ll ask. They also profiled a guy with his service companion and a family (who I’m friends with) with a child who has a hearing impairment. Two people in front of us didn’t have that issue, two people behind us didn’t have that issue at the checkout.. but if it’s me, my mom, or someone similar to us.. we get targeted. If y’all don’t trust us that much, then why have a store open at all. And yesterday, was gonna go get soda and lip balm, they tried to do this again. And I stood up to them, then they told me and my mom were not welcome back and we’re always mean. Oh mean, because we stand up to you whenever we feel we are disrespected and our boundaries are violated. Why don’t these Karen’s look in the mirror? I’ve never felt so uncomfortable, harassed, violated, and humiliated. I’ve been followed, watched, personnel in my personal space. They target people with disabilities all the time. They’ve not been open long but won’t be much longer if they keep this up. I plan on getting a lawyer and suing this five below location, and getting in touch with the ADA government folks.. because this shouldn’t be happening. It’s disgusting and disrespectful, made me feel like I don’t belong. I’m not gonna keep shopping where I don’t feel welcome and the people have no respect for people with disabilities or seniors, or where I have to feel like I’m walking on eggshells to shop there because these means girls aren’t comfy with other people in the world besides them. If you’re a senior, have disabilities, someone with sensory issues.. don’t shop here, they’re not friendly and they’re bullysome discriminatory. I hope this store gets shut down. We have a lot of folks with special needs and sensory issues in this town, that kind of rude hateful behavior from a store isn’t welcome or gonna last long. Enough is enough, Ozark five below Karen employees.. I hope y’all lose your job.. you’re not welcome in our town if you’re gonna do this to folks with disabilities. If this doesn’t change me and a bunch of parents will get together and sue your store and the company. I not only want a personal apology, we want you to make a public apology and own up..have accountability and we want change. Either train employees better or let go of problematic employees that continually target customers for no reason. Change, accountability, transparency, responsibility, and respect is the best apology. I want your higher ups to see this. Either fix the problem by clearing house or shut it down entirely, or...
Read moreMy sister and I went into this store at 7:30pm last night Sunday 06/09/24. We made sure to check the store hours before going in to be respectful of the staff. We got about 20 steps into the store when the staff abruptly turned the music off in attempt to make us feel unwelcome in the store during business hours. Staff also was intentional to go to each customer in the store 20 minutes before it closed to tell everyone they close at 8. Everywhere my sister and I went in the store, the blonde employee would follow us with her push broom and go right where we were standing to make us have to move out of the way. The entire time we were in the store, the blonde employee was glaring at us in attempt to get us out of the store. They made sure to come tell us again at 7:50 that they were closing at 8. We felt really rushed and unwelcome in this store. We came in during store hours and feel it was rude to be treated this way by the employees just so they could lock up early as soon as we stepped out...
Read moreThe store is great, but the mean girl mentality is awful. One woman is getting a list of things to do, while the other three are just standing around talking when they are not in my personal space making me feel like a shoplifter when I am at the register. It is a cheap store, I am sure this review will not even get to anyone. But the elderly woman working? You are amazing and I will be back to see you again. The others need to maybe realize high school is...
