I got into a shouting match with a cashier who wanted to charge me for bags despite they're being free when paying with EBT. My husband already bagged the large order to be helpful and save time. Then, after I paid with EBT, the cashier wanted payment for the bags, although certainly by this time, everyone knows they are no-cost with EBT. Here's where it gets crazy: She pointed to an imaginary line on the conveyer belt. "When you get HERE, you have to tell me you're paying with EBT." (There were only the reusable plastic bags at this register.) We explained we didn't see this border (maybe you need some kind of Star Wars glasses) that only she could see and in our many trips to this store, nobody ever informed us of such a thing. We offered to take all the merchandise out of the reusable bags and put them in paper bags that could be found at a different checkout. She refused because our bags were now "used." "Used? We haven't left the store," we told her. "There was frozen food in it," she said. We got the manager over and it was all this well-meaning young man could do to make this woman pipe down as he sensibly removed the 75 cent charge for the bags. I am aware of the many excellent reviews of this Grocery Outlet Store, many of them containing the word "friendly." And it may be the case that this particular experience is the exception. But I felt compelled to say something about this. Rarely in my many decades of grocery shopping have I come across a cashier with such an adversarial attitude towards customers. Since the 1970s, I have put many thousands of my tax dollars into the government to support the food stamps, salaries, subsidies, pensions, and phony wars of others. Now it's my turn to get some help. I am not remotely embarrassed to use EBT.
Would I continue to shop at this Grocery Outlet? Sure, it's the best deal in Pacifica. At least now I know whom to...
Read moreFriendliest staff and owners ever. Other Grocery Outlets cannot compare to how hard working and friendly everyone is at this store. These guys have been busting their butts off during this pandemic while still serving us with a warm (mask covered) smile, it’s hard to understand how anyone can complain about this store. I’m reading a lot of petty reviews, but everyone needs to realize that these guys are doing their best during this crazy time! Give them a break guys! We should be thanking them for being open and remaining polite and friendly during this chaos!
Definitely the cleanest Grocery Outlet I’ve been to. They’re really making a great effort to keep both their staff and customers safe by always wiping down their registers, doors of the fridges, bathrooms, and counting people coming in and out of the store. Instead of focusing on little things like not having certain items in stock, focus on the good they’re doing for their community. Instead of focusing on the slip ups that some of the cashiers may make, remember they’re just human. We all make mistakes. This store is full of such respectful employees of all ages. They’re doing their best.
Thank you Grocery Outlet of Pacifica. Us loyal customers applaud you and stand behind you every step of the way! Thank you for everything you’re doing! Stay safe and...
Read moreToday like every Sunday I buy my groceries, I wanted to use my ten dollars off coupon as I was putting my PIN number in I told the cashier I had ten dollars off coupon off he said it was too late, I said I wasn’t done but he said sorry I already finalize the bill, so I went to my car unloaded my groceries, then I walked in asked to talked with a manager, talked Nancy she said the only way she could give me the ten dollars off was for me to bring back the groceries and rescan them all over, I said wouldn’t that be a waste of time, wouldn’t it be easier to just credit my credit my card back ten dollars, she said I can’t do that with no explanation, she could see I was frustrated, so she says here I know this isn’t much but here is a three dollar coupon. I walked out shaking my head saying really. I never complain but this one bothered me. My wife and I spend a ton of money there and always support the family, but not being able to credit back your card made no sense. I work in retail and we allow our cashiers to credit back your cards as long as a manager signs off on the transaction. Normally the cashiers say is that everything? , I just wanted to throw out my frustration today maybe come up with a simple credit back or a ten dollars off not...
