ā Soul Grind Coffee Roasters ā Pacificaās Coastal Coffee Sanctuary
Tucked right off the Pacific Coast Highway in Pacifica, Soul Grind Coffee Roasters isnāt just a coffee shopāitās a seaside haven, a community hub, and a pitstop for surfers, hikers, and creatives alike. Housed in a former surf shop, Soul Grind has transformed into a vibrant cafĆ© that embodies everything that makes Pacifica magical: ocean breeze, warm hearts, and damn good coffee.
Founded by friends with a shared passion for coffee and the coast, Soul Grind roasts their own beans in-house, sourcing only ethically grown, high-quality coffee from around the world. Their mission? To deliver a soulful coffee experience that nourishes both body and spirit. Theyāve created an open, welcoming space thatās equal parts industrial, beachy, and laid backāwith plenty of room to spread out, breathe deep, and sip slowly.
āļø My Personal Take:
Whenever Iām visiting from Ventura, Soul Grind is my go-to. Whether Iāve just come off a trail walk or my girlfriendās been surfing nearby, this place offers the perfect reset. The menu is full of healthy options, so choosing just one thing is always the challenge (a good problem to have). Thereās something nourishing about the whole vibeālike a sanctuary getaway from the world.
The coffee is next level. I usually gravitate toward something smooth and rich, and my husband discovered a āsecret mixā blend that he absolutely loved. To our delight, they even offered a complimentary second refill, which made the whole experience feel that much more thoughtful and generous.
And donāt even get me started on the outdoor seatingāspacious, airy, and kissed by the coastal breeze. Itās a space where time slows down, and everything else falls into place.
š Highlights: ⢠In-house roasting with ethically sourced beans ⢠Healthy menu items and fresh pastries ⢠Spacious indoor + outdoor seating ⢠Steps from beach trails and surf spots ⢠A favorite for locals, travelers, and creatives ⢠Complimentary second coffee refillāa rare and beautiful gesture!
Whether youāre local or just passing through, Soul Grind is more than a coffee stopāitās an experience. A perfect blend of coastal charm, conscious coffee, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI hate to sound ironic but it felt Soul-Less. Its a large a open space with a fair amount of room both in front and with a back padio. But its not a "cozy" cafe. It had alot of wall art that felt like it was placed there to fill the space. The bathroom was very clean.
Their pastry is in a glass case but all their food to order is open aired not behind any glass covering right next to the register, which seemed strange to me. If it wasnt made to serve it seemed wasteful and not fresh.
How much is good coffee worth and what makes good coffee? For me, personally good coffee goes hand and hand with the space, the staff, how the staff are treated, the feeling I get in a space, and maybe the ambient conversations around me. Do they have mugs or just paper cups? Do they have refills? Any books to read? Local posters or notice board? Not necissarily how its roasted or where it comes from. I have had plenty of folgers that tasted great because of where I was, who I was with and the space around me.
Soul-Grinds brew was good, but the space was industrial and absent for me. The interactions were strictly transactional. It was a rainy morning, prime time for a cafe and I'd rather had enjoyed my coffee inside my car. They had one size 12 oz, for 4.20 with no payed refills ( I'd have like to enjoyed another cup ). I didn't notice any mugs but maybe they have them. The music felt like it was picked by someone in a suit with the play list " Feel Good Music ".
Its not the space for me, but maybe...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a conflicted review.
On one hand I sincerely adore this place, and on the other I wish it were less crowded.
This is to say that I am selfish, opting to intentionally nerf my review with the caviat of wanting to reclaim the space.
I come here to spend time and money to chill, read, write, glare, and charm, and the floor plan as it is cuts through the soul of the store like an atmospheric river.
I can't help but also feel for the staff who have to cross the river to buss tables, and the occasional battle royal that is seating.
Again I do love it. The Thomas the tank engine lookin bean cooker right out in the open. The fireplace. Cool mountain bike. Watching surfers. THE FOOD! And of course the brew. It's truly great.
But the floorplan is something of an issue that a skilled architect could really nail down, perhaps to the degree that Soul Grind could be both visually iconic and efficient without sacrificing the ambiance.
It's as though this place wants to remain a hang out, and yet it suffers from its own popularity by being too delicious not to drive a crowd. I believe it could strike a balance between comfort and economy, if that were it's intention.
That's admittedly ambitious and opinionated. Maybe start with the outdoor seating area? I mean it could be better. Or maybe I'm really just asking for my own little table in the loft above the register. That'd be peak.
But what do I know? That's just like, my...
