During a workout session at Planet Fitness late night on 6/17 , I was confronted by an employee, Chris, regarding a "no recording" policy, despite having previously received approval from management for recording personal fitness progress as long as other members were not being recorded. The situation escalated, with me stating Chris was harassing me and alleging racial bias after Chris called his manager, Felix. Chris then said heās not racist āmy manager is black ā. Iām like that doesnāt matter . I informed Felix over the phone, during the call Chris initiated, that Chris was harassing me. Chris stated in the presence of me and others that I was "on some dumb shit," to which I responded that it was rude, and he subsequently called me a liar. I expressed dissatisfaction with the unprofessional handling of the situation, noting previous approvals and the practice of other members recording. During our basic argument, nothing obscene or threatening was said on either side. The employee threatened to cancel my membership, citing a text message from Felix and Patrick indicating a prohibition of recording, and further showed a text of Patrick telling Chris he could cancel my membership. I told Chris that I have been coming to this location for two years and have never had issues with this policy, stating that he is the only one giving me a hard time about it. Employee Zach attempted to diffuse the situation, stating that if management had previously approved the recording, he would allow it to continue. However, Chris would not back down and proceeded to call management around 11 p.m., after I stated that I wanted to speak to management myself. I reiterated that I have been coming to this location for two years with no issues with other staff, stating that other staff members have seen me record. Chris responded by saying that those staff members "don't know how to do their jobs." I even said I know Patrick and if I could see him in person one day soon he will probably remember he gave me the ok at one point. I tried to tell Chris I came to the gym one day with a tripod and Patrick stop me said no recording and I said Iām just recording myself to document my progress . I told Chris that Pat said aslong as Iām recording myself only and not other members its fine . I even told Chris I stopped bringing my tripod after that . I told Chris I have videos of me recording myself for the past 2 years of me coming . I asked Chris when do you usually work so I can avoid coming to Planet at those times and he stated I am not sharing my schedule with you . Employee Zach was quiet and he seemed shocked about everything that was going on. Chris was so condescending he was like everyone knows Patrick. I am a part of a program through my insurance company that I pay $25 a month - this location was on their site as participating for the black card membership which would be ideal for me because I travel and would be able to use other locations. When I went to sign up they signed me up for the Classic Membership which doesn't allow you to go to other locations and costs like $13 so I would be losing money. However they called the manager or owner and he said he would look into it and they suggested that I call the program. I called the program and they confirmed that it was advertised as the black card membership and tried to contact the manager or owner and he wasn't responsive. I contacted the other Planet Fitness locations on the program and they confirmed it was a black card membership for their locations so I called this location to cancel my membership so I could sign up under one of the other ones. When I called the man that answered the phone said I could keep my membership there and pay more for a black card membership so between the program fee and this extra charge I would be paying even more than someone that signed up outside of the program - I don't know why anyone would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn or around 6/4/25 this location overhauled almost the entire layout of the gym and installed brand new weight lifting equipment. The treadmills and similar equipment stayed the same. The new layout and new equipment are phenomenal. The machines even have a rep counter and stopwatch to help you keep track of things. This location should definitely add some pictures to google maps and show off all of their hard work that went into the layout. I recommend checking it out!
Itās a great place to workout, equipment always works, and thereās a variety of equipment and they allow you to pick your own music via the Rockbot app or website! Pizza Monday no longer exists along with another food day. I havenāt used the black card areas, so I canāt comment on those benefits. The showers are relatively clean although there isnāt much privacy and showers have a smaller footprint compared to other Planet Fitness locations. The bathrooms have an air freshener which helps tremendously cut down on the odor. Mondays are the busiest and the crowd slowly tapers until Sunday when itās the slowest.
