My mom was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in October 2024 and passed away early December, only several weeks later. We were and are still shocked at what happened and are traumatized. It was my mom's wish to spend her last days at home where she and my dad had been living for over 45 years.
As events were quickly unfolding, my wife found Right at Home caregiver services. Immediately she was impressed with the great reviews. The initial conversation with Gulraj (owner, operator) was very understanding and empathetic. Almost immediately he understood where our family was at, and acknowledged that it was everyone in the family going through this difficult process. I then met Deborah (caregiver services manager) who had decades of experieince working as an RN manager in the hospice setting. She was able to give very valuable advice to bridge services between Right at Home, Kaiser Hospice services, and our family.
Caregivers Isabella and Alice were assigned to my mom's care. After our initial meeting, we saw these two dedicated and experienced professionals immediately go to work and eventually be a part of my mom's last days in a very meaningful, caring way. Isabella and Alice seemed to have keen awareness of what my mom and family needed in the moment- they had just the right touch to make all of us feel "right at home" again during these chaotic times. They took care of many meals, and made the immediate areas sanitary and clutter free. They also closely followed guidelines for my mom's care and treatment plan. They also worked well as a team, and interfaced well with Kaiser Hospice. Alice and Isabella also took every measure they could to address the issue-at-hand, and many times it took human contact to suit my where my mom was at during her treatment.
Throughout her whole life, my mother was caring towards others - she got along with just about everyone and was well known for her nurturing, giving personality. It was just a relief that as her son, I could reciprocate somewhat - that I could link my mom up to an agency that seemed to also possess these qualities.
Soon after my mom passed, I took caregiver Isabella around the back of our home where there is a nature trail and views of the Bay. It was finally a perfect morning with sun cool-enough breeze. I would like to say my mom was looking after us - saying thanks for all of our efforts, and that it was time for her to move on. Thanks Gulraj, Deborah, Alice, and Isabella. Mom...
Read moreRight at Home was a lifesaver for me and my family. When my stepfather became suddenly ill and needed additional support at home, I was scrambling to find help and felt totally out of my comfort zone. I found Right at Home online and was impressed with their stellar reviews. They were the first call I made and the best. Guraj, the company CEO picked up the phone right away and his sensitive caring tone set the stage for an incredible experience with this company. He arranged for their client care manager Debbie to meet with me and my stepfather that afternoon. Debbie is a retired hospice nurse and brought a wealth of knowledge and connections to our situation--helping to connect us to a doctor who ultimately referred us to one in the area who could conduct house calls. We started with home help at three days a week, but soon needed to expand to five days a week and then 24 hour care at home. Throughout, Right at Home was able to schedule staff quickly and coordinate all the logistics. The caregivers were exceptional. Erlinda was dedicated, kind, supportive and knowledgeable. In one case she noticed that the hospice nurse hadn't taken care of a bandage change--she pushed back to encourage her to take care of it. I appreciated the advocacy for my stepdad and his healthcare needs. Kay was so deeply engaged in her work, it almost seemed like a spiritual calling for her. She was attentive, deeply caring, and so sensitive to all of his needs. Both Erlinda and Kay ensured that my stepdad was eating, hydrated, comfortable, and clean. They also did all the laundry and kept the home spotless in the process. This allowed my family to really focus on spending more quality time with him as his health deteriorated. I wholeheartedly trusted them with him in his home. As we needed to soon shift to hospice, Debbie helped to facilitate that process, providing expert advice and perspective, and checking in daily. I can't tell you how much the work of Right at Home benefitted my stepfather and my family. I recommend Right at Home wholeheartedly to anyone looking for support for family members at home. Thank you...
Read moreI want to write a really glowing review for a local franchisee of Right At Home run by Gulraj. Right At Home is a company that provides in-home care to seniors. We have used their services multiple times over the last 2 for our mother who lives with us. First and foremost, the quality of care and the reliability and punctuality of the care-givers has been outstanding. Given our mixed experiences with some other companies, Gulraj and his team have provided impeccable service. As our loved ones age, health complications are inevitable - Gulraj and his team provide an invaluable service for seniors with compassion, grace and dignity. What's most impressive though about Gulraj, and sets his team far apart from anyone else in the field is the personal touch from him and his wife. The very first time we signed up for his service, we were (pleasantly) shocked to see him show up in a tie on the first evening. He wanted to understand the exact situation, see the nature of our house, check for any pets, and also meet my mother and speak to us directly. He gave us his card and his personal cell phone number so that we can contact him in any situation. Another time when my mother had to spend a few days in the hospital and we needed some additional help, Gulraj's wife came to the hospital to check in on my mother and make sure things were properly setup. Through these last couple of years Gulraj's team has been on top of everything and been able to promptly help even in cases of emergencies. We recommend them...
