I have been a client at Anetta Hair Studio for well over 10 years now, both at her previous location in Burbank, as well as the newer one in Orland Park. Not to mention having referred so many friends and family members to this studio, as well! It always starts with a warm welcome and a huge smile from Tania and Emilka, where they check me in and offer an assortment of refreshments. The stylists, technicians, and estheticians are all very knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly genuine people. The owner, Anetta, whose studio and work is loved by so many, always takes the time from her very busy schedule to say hello to all of her clients and always pops in to check on me no matter what service Iām getting done!
Iāve gotten brows, lashes, nails, and hair done here. Koss is truly an artist at both lashes and nails, the lash retention and the durability of her work on my nails allows me to go much longer in between fills. Definitely get a bang for my buck with the services here! Sabina is the absolute best person for my blonde hair. I have a hard time finding a stylist to trust with my hair based on previous, unpleasant experiences. Sabina goes above and beyond to make sure all my expectations are met and then some. My hair has always been very thick, curly, and very long (when straightened, it would hit the very end of my back) but due to certain health issues, I have lost about 75-80% of my hair, making it now very dry, brittle, and extremely thin. Both Sabina and Anetta have gone out of their way to accommodate my poor hair, from treatments, to masks, to trying new techniques. Never failing to put a huge smile on my face the second I see the finished result. They truly make me feel beautiful. Despite moving out of state, I continue to fly back to chicago for all my hair appointments.
That being said, the drastic increase in negative reviews over the last few days from numerous people (many who were never clients here to begin with, based on the responses) is alarming, and quite simply, sad. To try and bring down a small business due to one unpleasant experience is extremely ignorant and inconsiderate. There is a time and place for things, and knowing how this studio works and all the employees in it, I have no doubt in my mind that they offered some form of reimbursement and/or negotiation. It seems as if that was ignored/denied by the client, and instead, they chose to express themselves over the internet instead of addressing the issue head on. An issue that could have been easily resolved without having a swarm of alleged nay-sayers attack the studio in its reviews.
I typically donāt write reviews, but some of these reviews were triggering. As someone who struggles with severe anxiety, particularly social anxiety, I find it highly offensive and inappropriate to hide behind that fact and use it as an excuse for not addressing the issue when it first occurred. Mental illness is no joke, thereās no denying that, but using it as mask for a personās lack of self-discipline and control is unacceptable. Far too many people use mental Illness as an excuse to get away from tricky, uncomfortable situations. Not to mention, one of the clients who wrote a review has a history of writing extremely negative reviews (8/13 of the reviews written by them were negative, red flag). Anetta is an extremely pleasant, caring, and understanding individual, who loves her clients and her business. The client(s) who were upset could have easily asked to speak in private with her OR reached out to her through instagram, Facebook, or email and handled this situation differently. Instead, they chose to lash out on a business over the internet. A business Anetta has worked so diligently to grow and help prosper.
That being said, I truly hope whomever is questioning whether to go to Anetta Hair Studio for any kind of service or not, to please take the recent, negative reviews with a grain of salt. During the consultation, I was told my hair was strong and the desired look I wanted was achievable. I was told it'd cost $250. Before Merium worked on my hair on Saturday, I showed her pictures on my phone of what I wanted. She grabbed my phone with the pictures and took it to the back where they store the coloring products. She worked on my hair and said, "Oh this didn't take as long as I expected". I was so disappointed when she finished. It was nowhere near what I asked for, it did not look at all like the pictures. I expressed that to her and she rolled her eyes and called the owner. The owner flat out admitted that Merium messed up by not using cotton on my roots. She acknowledged that it looked horrible and asked me to return the next day so that she herself, Anetta, could fix it. When I went to pay, they charged me exactly $396.55. I'm sure you can imagine my disappointment and frustration at this point. I spoke to the owner who said it costs more because of all the work, even though Merium herself said it wasn't too much. I still gave them a chance to fix it and returned the next day. The nightmare only got worse. Anetta attempted to fix it in a rush and it looked worse and was severely damaged. I told her I was very unhappy and she told me to wash it a few times and return for more work, meaning more damage. I refused to go back. This was way too much now. She said she would fix it again or give me a refund. I called the salon to try to settle a refund because there was no way I was going back. This time I spoke to the manager, Tania. She asked me to email her pictures of what I asked for and of my hair. I did that. Then she called and said her stylist never saw those pictures. I asked her to please review the surveillance cameras because the stylist, Merium even took my phone to the back with the pictures showing. I mean you can't make these things up. It's all in the cameras. She refused to review the videos and said all they could do was refund $50. Oh and then they went on their website and changed the prices! For the work I wanted, it was listed as $85-$130. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! I'm disputing this with my credit card and reporting them to multiple bureaus and agencies. I know my rights as a consumer. HOWEVERā¦. If you are new to the salon and they offer appointments with other stylists I recommend that you research who you schedule with. Today was not my first visit at the Anettaās salon but 4th for a haircut. I gave the salon 3 stars over all because my first 2 visits there were just ok but the 3rd one not quite worth of coming back! Iām not going to mention names but that one day, without a warning, when I arrived, and on time, I got ā dumpedā on another girl while the person I was scheduled with was there and sitting at the front desk. The girl that I ended up with was most likely brand new to hair cutting. I ended up driving back to the salon I used to go to before I moved, to fix what was left of my hair. To summarize, I was upset, not with a girl that was learning on my hair but with a very low grade of business manners of some people there!
I came back to Anettaās Salon a year later, only because I donāt have time to keep driving to my old salon 40 miles away, havenāt found a new one yet and in the mean time, Monika ( dark hair) at Anettaās Salon was recommended to me.
