The reason for this low score is not due to the staff, but to the management! On 11 Aug 2020, aprox 0920-0940, I was at Parker PF doing cardio on one of the elliptical machines. Everything was going well when a gentleman took a machine in front of me 10 minutes after I started my workout. Trouble soon began when he received a phone call. He was extremely loud, so loud I couldn’t hear what I was listening to with my headphones. I tried to be patient in hopes that his conversation would end soon but to no avail. I tried to get his attention by saying “hey” a few times but ended up yelling it several times before getting his attention. I told him his conversation was impeding my hearing and he was being inconsiderate. He got off his machine and started yelling “you don’t talk to me that way”. That’s when the manager came over and positioned herself between us. Things got worse when he tried to get past the manager and had to be physically pushed back. He told me he wanted to “take it outside or in the locker room,” and finished up with “wanting to bash my head in”. The only thing the PF manager said was “too much testosterone”. I told the manager to “call the police” which she did not do. I talked to the manager again on 16 Aug to see if she did anything about this incident and was told no. Worse yet the manager had a total different and vague recollection and only recalled a yelling match. I filed a report with the police that day and they said I should have called when the incident happened. I called PF corporate and am still waiting on a return call. Management at the PF has either an integrity problem or a very bad memory. If you go there bring a friend. If you have a problem go directly to the top, the staff they seem to know what they are doing. I’ve been a loyal customer for over 5 years and now feel that I have to look over my shoulder for this jerk. They have video cameras there, but for whatever reason the manager did not want to do anything about the incident. Read moreThe Planet Fitness (PF) app is great allows you to monitor how busy the facility is before you arrive, it provides hands free checkin and tutorials on equipment and exercises. I also like how you can use the app to invite a friend (for black membership). It would be great if the app tied to the machines to track your use automatically it could also use a space to track none weights and cardio machines.
They have lots of variety of equipment; weights, weight machines, and cardio machines. I like the 4 different workout stations.
Specific to the Callaway Florida PF, the staff has been overall very nice and helpful I have had only one that was a little out of character from the rest but maybe she was having a bad day. They keep the place clean and the cleaning stations are routinely checked and restocked.
Equipment is kept in good working conditions from my perspective I did report 1 bike not working properly not sure its been fixed-I stopped checking. I'm a creature of habit normally use the same machines if they're available. A little disappointed at how long it's taking to get the 30 minute workout circuit "red light green light" fixed I believe it's been about 3 weeks and you'd think with all the PFs around the world this would be an easy replace. Lastly I joined in July when I finally decided to take classes and have the trainer build a workout plan for me they have no classes or trainer. The nice young man, Trainer, that had initially shown me around was a summer higher and has gone back to school. I was told by staff I'd have to go to another PF because this location was a small and privately own they would not being getting a replacement. This was very disappointing and keeps this location from being a 5 star in my eyes. Read moreI appreciate this little gem (gym). Being in Callaway makes it less busy than the one in Panama City. However, the hours here are nuts. I was under the impression that Planet Fitness was always a 24/7 business. Not this one. Not even close. I'd prefer to go to this one if it was at least open decently late. Not only are the hours much shorter than they need to be, they're also very random and would be impossible for your customers to remember. I'd also have to throw in a slight complaint that these machines here are very old. This little Planet Fitness needs an upgrade and longer hours. I'm sure it would be beneficial for everyone- Planet Fitness as a business since they'd be making more money, and the customers who live in and near Callaway. If it was open later, I'd have another gym option with my Black Card membership, which I'd be happy to consider more often since my anxiety can be driven up a wall with how hectic the one in Panama City can get. Repeating my review on the Panama City Planet Fitness, it desperately needs help moving some of that traffic elsewhere, and having longer hours at this establishment could very well help...
