The outside is unassuming and I've honestly driven by it without paying it any mind a handful if times. I was finally talked into going here and I was impressed. The service was outstanding. At one point, we had four different individuals attending to our needs. They were very polite and helpful. The inside of the restaurant was charming and very tidy. A little old fashioned, but for me, that was a huge plus. I loved it. The food came very quick. How quick? We washed off our front porch and we managed to drive out the twenty minutes to Old Mexico, place our orders, eat, and drive back before it dried. And the food was DELICIOUS. The prices were very fair and the plates were loaded. I will DEFINITELY be making this a regular part of my yearly vacation. I would gladly make the ten hour drive to eat here again. went in around noon for my hour lunch. got served a drink about 20 minutes after entering which is ok if its busy. i then waited another 25 minutes to even have the server waiting on me approach the table for the first time. Meanwhile I watched 4 different groups enter after me and have their orders taken and even ones food came out before I had even been seen. I asked if a small lunch meal would be more than 20 minutes (beyond my lunch hour) and was told yes. I said just bring me my bill and was told ok, then never saw my server again. This is unacceptable service and will never be giving this place my business. Having 6+ years of bartending/server experience I can confidently say this is one of the more atrocious encounters i've had with apathetic and generally uncaring staff. Having visited Old Mexico Restaurant in Callaway with my family, we unfortunately had a disappointing experience. Despite being seated promptly, we observed that several other customers who arrived after us were served before we could even place our drink orders, let alone order our food. This made us feel undervalued as customers and left us with the impression that perhaps our patronage, as a retired military family, was not appreciated at this location. We came to the conclusion that this establishment may not be the most welcoming place for families like ours.
