If I could post negative stars, I would. I had a horrible experience with the Northwood location. I booked a color consult for a new client as required and was only given the option to book with someone with barbering and natural hair stylist listed as their services offered, that did NOT list colorist. I paid the required amount to book the consult, which mentioned that the remaining balance should be paid in cash on-site. I was running late for the consult, notified them, and was appreciative that they still were willing to see me. During the consult, the barber kept mentioning that she'd need to get help with what I was requesting. Other comments were that she forgot what other questions she was supposed to ask me. This made me nervous but I was certain that a salon of this caliber would ensure that I received exactly what I wanted. I explained to the barber that my color appointment was already booked for the next week (Friday) given my planned vacation. She said okay. I received a text on Wednesday of that week, asking me to confirm my appt which I did. I received a text at 11:46am on Thurs from the barber stating that she meant to message me the week prior but that the color services that I wanted was outside of her skill level. She referred me to two other stylists, who actually are Master Colorists and recommended that I book a consult with them. I called the number listed for the salon and was met with someone who told me that those stylists wouldn't be available to service me before my vacation as they would be traveling for an event. I requested a refund for the $50 consult and was rudely told that the consult fee is nonrefundable. This was unprofessional, inconsiderate, and poor customer service. I will NEVER give them my business and would caution anyone from doing the same. Such a disappointment. Please do better by people given that you're in a...
Read moreLooks like they have some great stylists, but their scheduling process needs work, and it seems like they’re not professional or serious. I booked a consultation online for a loc color for my wedding after seeing their work online. I drove three hours to my appointment and I sat with the owner of the salon. She did a patch test on my locs and we picked out the color. I sat with her over three hours and my mother also got a service. We talked about the wedding, the service, my hair history. I complimented her hair color. She gave me a date and time for the color appointment in three months and I calendared it. A week later, I visited the online portal after I realized I forgot to book a return visit for my mother who would again be accompanying me to the new color appointment. I didn’t see the color appointment in my online profile. I called the salon three times before I could get to speak to someone, a few times they left early or were closed. I got in touch with the owner on a Saturday. I was on hold with her for an hour trying to confirm the color appointment. It sounded like she was in the middle of servicing other clients. At first, she lost her password to the online system, then her computer shut down and restarted, then she had to reset the password. After an hour of sitting with her on the phone she told me that she didn’t have an appointment in her system and she had no availability. She wasn’t apologetic in any way. To add insult to injury, she didn’t remember servicing me or doing a patch test on my locs (with bleach!) a week ago. If I had not called and confirmed, I would have driven three hours to that salon a week before my wedding for them to tell me I’m SOL. And I still had a patch of bleach blonde locs from the patch test she conducted. Thankfully she flaked and provided me with enough time to find another stylist to...
Read moreAfter completing my install, my stylist's (Drea) books were scheduled out for months, so I always had a difficult time making an appt. I had to patronize another salon just to keep up with my reties, but tried to stay in touch with Drea since she was my consultant. She had the nerve to state she wouldnt do my hair since I went somewhere else. Girllll, you are always booked out for months. I could never get on her schedule at an opportune time, and I refuse to take off work for hair, so the salon BANNED me because I went to someone else. Banning someone for going to alternate locations to keep up with reties is extra and unnecessary. Unprofessional and petty....typical Black salon madness. Goodluck making an appt!
In response to the owner reply: Youre missing the point of my grievance. Again, BANNING a customer (me) for going to another salon to keep up with reties until I could schedule with my consultant was unnecessary, unprofessional, and petty. I wouldn't expect that from a business who prides itself on "good customer service." Shame on you if you think it's ok to BAN customers...not for bad behavior...but for keeping up with her hair needs. This is the exact antithesis of a caring, wholesome salon...Please! Better customer service is a requisite...having a good attitude is...
