ZERO STARS!!!!! Poor, disgusting, distateful, absolutely rude, & inappropriate Customer Service! IF YOU ARE BLACK DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!! Our dollars are not respected nor welcomed!!!! Mind you, I've been shopping here for years, it WAS my favorite store at Shop of Pembroke until today, Sunday, March 5, 2023. This is what happened: At 6:35PM, while passing Shops of Pembroke, I remembered that I needed an outfit for Jazz In the Gardens Ladies Luncheon this coming Friday. So, I pulled into the parking lot, but before I got out of the car, I Googled the store hours & noted that they closed at 7PM. Steps New York is usually my go-to, to find something quick. 20 minutes was ample time to run in , look quick, & purchase. I've done this numerous times before. Well today, 5 minutes after I walked in, at 6:45PM, a male employee walked toward me, I said, "I already know, you guys close at 7PM, thank you!" . Well, another Hispanic Sales Associate started talking to him in Spanish & I know that it was in regards to me as I understand Spanish. She started walking around me, speaking Spanish in an agitated manner, basically she told me to come back tomorrow, we open at 10AM. Then she walked to the back & never returned while I was there. To make a long story short, I got angry because there were several other guests in the store & guest were still coming in. However, I was the only black customer that was there & the only one that they addressed. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED because I shop here all of the time. I actually had on bracelets & top that I've purchased there. I'VE NEVER IN MY LIFE EXPERIENCED THIS & I WILL LET ALL OF MY FRIENDS know.    Read moreMe and my cousin went to Step New York last night at Pembroke Gardens In Florida and it was the worst experience in all my days of shopping!! We were racially profiled and this was very insulting, the "manager" of the store was extremely rude. She followed us around the store the entire time, every where in the store we went there she was.We couldn't shop in peace, I guess the color of our skin made us stand out as a thieves. Never in my life have I ever been made to feel like this. I work hard for my money that I was going to spend in this store which I ended up putting everything back.We confronted her about it and she said this was her job, keep in mind she never once asked us if we needed help with anything. I asked for her name and she refused, I would like this to get to corporate office as this was very discriminating.    Read moreI recently visited your store for the first time, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience. I understand that policies are in place for a reason, but the complete lack of flexibility or willingness to work with a new customer on a simple exchange was unacceptable.
Rather than being met with understanding or any effort to help, I was dismissed without consideration. There was no room for discussion—just a cold, rigid response that clearly conveyed a lack of care for customer satisfaction.
First impressions matter, and sadly, mine was that customer service here takes a backseat to policy enforcement, even when a bit of empathy.
I hope you’ll take this feedback seriously and consider how such experiences impact potential long-term customer relationship. Remember a happy customer means a returning one. I sure won’t be, so be aware.
