Reenie Bird's Alterations and Repairs — Local services in Peoria Heights

I’ve passed Reenie Birds a millions times and have been wanting to check it out, so I took my kids and nieces whom are all teenagers there since they’ve recently become interested in thrifting. There was a note on the door explaining masks are required and only two people in at a time. Because I work in healthcare I understand how serious the pandemic is, so we patiently waited outside until we were called in two at a time. The two oldest were called in first and very shortly after the other were called in. About 5 mins later one of the ladies gave me a hand gesture to come in. As I came in I felt tension right away from the two ladies working there. They were very unfriendly, didn’t greet any of us, didn’t say a word to us and we definitely didn’t feel welcomed. I whispered to daughter that I felt we were invading their space. My daughter then said “me too, the lady with the blonde hair is really rude.” Immediately after that my son approached me saying that he said to the same lady “excuse me” and she responded aggressively with “not right now!”. He was only trying to walk past her and not ask a question. I noticed some dirty looks from both of them so I told all the kids to put everything down and leave. As I was leaving I told them that they were very unwelcoming which is a whole lot less than what I would have said had I not been with four kids. My kids haven’t been out in a very long time and it’s super disappointing that this was their experience. This shop is unlike any other for so many reasons, #1 being the beautiful owner Maureen. I have been going to Reenie Bird's since I believe 2017. What I am so deeply fond of is how over the years of going there, Maureen knows my particular style and makes it so easy to feel comfortable in that space. Maureen curates her shop with her customers in mind. She is so welcoming and warm!! This area is so lucky to have such an eclectic and unique space. There are so many friends of mine who hold Reenie Bird's in such high regard and I hope Maureen knows that is she beyond loved and adored by so many people! If you haven't taken the time to make a trip over to her shop, do it asap. My wardrobe would not be the same without this place. If you want something unique and high quality and stylish and personal, this is the place. Reenie Bird's is tasteful but also fun and has just enough quirk to it to make it charming. It's a balance of "wow I've always wanted something like this" and " wow I didn't know something like this existed" Don't be fooled by the size, there is so much to see!
