Clink Bar and Events — Restaurant in Peoria Heights

It seemed the ads promised a trendy place for drinks and food, but we were a bit let down. It was sunny and cool; the larger outdoor seating area was unavailable (no staff?) and obviously no patio heaters. The minimalist interior had enough tables and some sofas, but large TVs with football made it into any other sports bar. (Sorry, but we hoped for a nice place to talk, maybe with great music). We anticipated a sophisticated bar (maybe like a nice pub), but there were a few bottles and extremely limited drinks menu. Our side salads were good, but served in paper bowls. The server was very sweet and attentive, but the whole vibe just disappointed. There was a large cart parked at the end of the bar with cleaning supplies. We love new, independent businesses and hoped this might be a winner, but it didn't live up...

I rarely leave bad reviews, but the service at this place was incredibly disappointing. We waited 20 full minutes after the first dish arrived for the rest of the food to be brought to the table. By the time the last plate showed up, the first one was already cold, and the rest of us had been sitting awkwardly, trying to decide whether to start eating or wait.

There was no explanation or apology from the staff—just long stretches of silence while we stared at an empty table. If the kitchen is backed up or there’s an issue, a simple heads-up would’ve gone a long way. Instead, it felt like we were completely forgotten.

The food itself wasn’t bad, but it definitely wasn’t worth the wait or the frustration. With so many other options around, I won’t be coming back. Dining out should feel like a treat, not a test...

Was super excited to check out the new spot. Got there around 8pm and ordered a couple of Mai Tai’s and 2 Modelo’s. When the beers were brought out one of them had a long brunette hair stuck in the opening of the bottle, wedged in with the lime. I asked the waitress if she could replace the beer due to this and she agreed but before she took it I tore a a tiny part of the label off to make sure they did not bring back the same contaminated bottle. She came back a few minutes later with the same bottle and I informed her of this. She became slightly argumentative and after I told her why I knew she agreed to get a new bottle.
