Save A Lot — Local services in Peoria Heights

When I first moved to the area, I bypassed this store many times, thinking that it was just some generic 'bargain' store. One day on a Taco Tuesday, I realized that I was out of cheese and had friends coming over. In a panic and 2 blocks away, I made an emergency effort to get cheese there. To my wonderful dismay, this place had darn near everything that I usually bought at the big name stores but at cheaper prices. Now, I do nearly all of my shopping here, including my barbecue meat. On top of all of that, the staff is amazing. Especially Nancy and Armando. This appears to be a very clean store with directional aisle markings, and a decent selection available.

The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 ☆'s is because I was searching for fresh squash and eggplant which was out of stock or unavailable. This is more my fault than theirs in my opinion because they are both out of season, and I've never heard of those as frozen offerings.

It seems like there is comfortable space to sanitize the carts in on a Tuesday afternoon as well.

The staff were very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful as well.

Nice neighborhood grocery. Everything is fresh. Prices are relatively competitive. However this is the second time I've had this happen: they advertise loudly (sale circular headlines and their sign) that they have a great price on something (in this case, ribeye steaks for $4.99lb) So you stop , go into the store, and...guess what?? No ribeye steaks "have been cut yet today". It's 10:30 on a Thursday! And the same thing happened about a month ago. This sleazy tactic is called "bait & switch".
