I suffered a collapsed lung on July 2, 2021, I was treated at Chester Memorial Hospital in Chester IL for pneumothorax related to endometriosis. I was able to recover but yesterday (July 12) I started hurting and having trouble breathing around 8pm. My partner and I came to Perryville as a last resort, due to the hospitals in Cape Girardeau being packed full.
I want to state, I signed papers for them to receive records from Chester about July 2nd!
The nurses were lovely and very prompt with getting me to triage. However, Dr. Salmon was the rudest person on staff. He came in once, listened to my breathing, saying I was fine. But he still ordered a chest X-ray, blood work, etc. He did not seem to care I was having trouble breathing and being in immense pain. He didnāt not pay attention to me telling him what happened on July 2nd and did not heed my concerns about possibly having my lung collapse again. Then he left the room.
I saw the nurses numerous times, but never once did Dr. Salmon come to talk to me about anything. Eventually after waiting about three hours, I started to take off my blood pressure cuff, O2 monitor, and began dressing myself. I had a nurse remove the IV and I was planning on leaving. Dr. Salmon came to tell me, āEvery test is normal. I donāt know why youāre in pain. Youāll be fine, take some Tylenol or ibproufen. Also I donāt know why Chester diagnosed you with a pneumothorax, thatās not what it is. Honestly, the X-ray looks normal, so they lied to you.ā And, he left.
I was flabbergasted! In the Chester ER, I saw the doctor that had once been my pediatrician! She would never lie to me as her family and my family are friends! To even suggest that I was lied too and then told, āIāll be fine,ā is ludicrous.
The wonderful nurse, came in and talked to me. She was lovely! She let me know to follow up with my main doctor and to seek medical attention if it happens again. And, I was discharged. With no actual reason as to why I was in severe pain, with shortness of breath. July 14, I have a follow up with my family doctor, to find me a pulmonologist.
Overall, the nurses? 5 Stars. Dr. Salmon? 0 Stars. He was rude, condescending and just did not care about a young 26 year old woman who couldnāt breathe. Heās just there for the money.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreER doctors: 1 Dr. Saw my FIL 3 plus times repeatedly sent him home. Finally was admitted then transferred to Barnes for multiple issues. He was in the hospital total of 12 weeks. Same Dr. Sees my husband having difficulty breathing. He sends my husband home. Less than 48 hours ambulance was called he was admitted for positive coronavirus and pulmonary distress. The 1st 3 days of a week long stay they discussef transfer and ventilator he's was doing so bad. Same Dr. I go in bc I'm sick. He's made aware my husband is upstairs with coronavirus. He doesn't test me for it. Does other swabs and blood work sending me home telling me I have a cold. I'm still sick tonight I feel something pop in my ribs and then excruciating pain. So I go up to ER chest x-ray is done nothing broken everything looks fine. I asked if he would give me something for the pain. He informed me according to my records I have codeine at home. After he figures out he's wrong he sends a nurse vin with a SINGLE dose of Robitussin with codeine and sends me home. 2 visits for my husband in 2 weeks, 2 Dr visits and 2 e.r. visits for me. I have not been tested to date for coronavirus. Have not received treatment at either e.r. visit. I am in so much pain my ribs hurt when I attempt to even talk. This is why no one believes this hospital can do their job and provide any level of care. I will not return to ER for anything. I think I'll send them an invoice for my pain, suffering, and time wasted. Hopefully the level of service...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy experience at my appointment was fantastic. This review is in no way related to my service I received at Perryville. This review is related to the billing department at Mercy. Apparently they do no work with people regarding their financial circumstances and even if you a are regularly / monthly making a payment on your bill, if you do not set up a payment plan, they can still send you to collections. Telling them I could not afford their payment plan they were offering and what could we do to get a lower amount for a plan, because I had no problem making payments, as I have been a patient and done for the last 3+ decades. Now that they are Mercy, they donāt seem to care about peoples financial situations, and will just send you to collections even though you are making regular payments. We are just money to them, not people/patients. Not the same appreciation they had before they were Mercy, where āPeople...
