My husband, brother, and I recently resumed collecting pokemon cards due to the nostalgia we felt when running into one of Deep Pocket Monster's videos on Youtube. Super eager and excited, we began hunting for them through various local card shops and retail stores.
We came across this store after enjoying a nice meal and saw they sold Pokemon cards. After looking at their inventory, we decided to purchase 10 Battle Styles booster packs, a release from 2021 we have yet to rip open.
Staff were friendly so we did not even think to look at the condition of the packs at purchase. After we had already left the store, we realized upon closer look that they had been opened and resealed due to small amounts of glue residue and the packs already peeling open at the edges of the top seams. To confirm our suspicions, we opened a few and ran into very obvious evidence. Battle Styles is a Sword and Shield release, therefore there is a reverse holo on the 5th slot and a potential holo/hit on the 6th excluding the code card. Out of the 10 packs, 6 of them had reverse holos on the 3rd or 4th slots. To be even more sure for the benefit of the doubt in favor of this card store, we watched various Youtubers open Battle Styles booster boxes which contain 36 packs. All of them consistently had reverse holos on the 5th slot and a potential holo/hit on the 6th.
It is really a shame because it takes a lot for me to write a review that hurts a business, but I cannot help but imagine little kids getting into the hobby and being scammed like this. Rule of thumb; always ask to look at the condition of the packs before purchasing. This is the second time we have been scammed from a local card shop, so please be careful and take necessary precautions. Do NOT let places like this take the joy out of collecting. Happy hunting, and good luck to all the...
Read moreGreat place for fans of comic books/figures and trading card games like Yugioh and MTG. They also have DVDs for TV shows such as Smallville. The ground floor is small but used efficiently, filled with products and no wasted space.
They have competitive Yugioh tournaments on Saturdays, sign up in-store before it begins. I went to check it out for casual Yugioh so it was not what I was looking for, but if you are looking to get into competitive duels, this is the spot. I saw over 30 players there when I went.
They didn’t have some cheap Yugioh Commons I was looking for but I did get two cards in great condition and fairly priced, they were cheaper than...
Read moreI came here on my birthday to look at Pokemon cards. I do wish they had binders of $1-$2 holos/reverses/etc, but NBD. I believe they did for other card games. Everything in the display case is very, very fairly priced. Basically in line with TCGplayer averages, as opposed to estimates on Dawnglare (which tend to run a bit high IMO.) An example would be a pair of rainbow full art Oleana. I paid $12 each and as of writing the TCGplayer average is $12.42. At time of visiting they also had some booster boxes and first partner packs in stock. They have every supply you could need for storing/organizing/protecting...
