Mickey's Auto Repair — Local services in Philadelphia

Would give 6 stars if possible. Got two tickets from the PPA for expired inspection that ended in December (I know, I know). I usually bring my car back to the dealership for inspection because it's free, but I was in a time crunch so I decided to go somewhere local. I called Mickey's first thing on Monday morning 1/21/19 asking if I could bring my 2016 Mazda 3 in for inspection. They said no problem. Brought my car in around 8:30am. I was a little frantic because I had to get to work, but they were so patient with me. My registration paperwork was hard to read because my printer ran out of ink. They needed a better copy in order to scan it. They gave me their business card and said I could just email or fax it from my job. Whew thank you. Before I left, they asked where my wheel lock was. I had no idea what this is but apparently it's a tool needed to take my wheels off. I didn't know, so they said they would look through my car to find it.

I got a text while at work that they were able to locate it in my driver's side door (I must have put it there not knowing what it was). A few hours later, I got a call that my car passed inspection and that I could pick it up before they closed at 5pm or they could bring it inside if I needed to come the next day. I left work early to pick it up right before 5pm. My bill was only $55 because my car had less than 5,000 miles on it for the year. I was not expecting it to be so cheap! They also added air to all my tires and put the wheel lock in the glove compartment for safe keeping.

Scheduled an appointment for a car inspection and when I arrived, there was a minor car accident and Mickey asked me to come back in 30-60 minutes. It was understandable. When I came back, Mickey had me drive into the garage and he did not give me clear instructions that he wanted the front of the car in first. He made several very inappropriate comments saying "My instructions are so simple and you can't follow them. You women can't drive. Women are horrible drivers." While I was waiting for my car to be inspected, Mickey had the nerve to say "Are you in a bad mood?" I told him I didn't appreciate the comments he made and he said he was "lightening up the situation and just joking." He also stated "[he] is the nicest guy out there" and I can go elsewhere. I told him he's sexist and wasted my time. I gladly went to another car inspection place a few minutes away and received quick and prompt service. I brought my car here a few times for oil changes and inspections. The service was fine. But I live in the neighborhood and one day my dog walked past the shop and they gave her a dog treat, so she kept coming back every single day, wanting to go get another treat from them. One day I was walking her with a poop bag in my hand, and I noticed a small trashcan that someone put out next to the shop for dog waste. I opened it and put my bag inside the trash and the owner stopped me and said “oh it’s you with the green bags” and he proceeded to accuse me of leaving dog poop bags on the sidewalk near his shop. I just said “no I don’t do that” and walked away. Bro. Green dog poop bags are literally the most popular brand and you can see them all over the city because everyone uses them.
