I notice there’s a lot of good reviews here, but I guess my experience was a bit different given I’m not already a MTG player. In fact, my boyfriend and I have been trying to find a card game to get into and Magic seemed like the popular choice. We’d be doing small bits of research and heard about Manawerx being a good place to buy and check it out. I wish I could say my experience was pleasant but it was pretty far from that. First of all, if you are not already an MTG player, I don’t recommend coming here, especially if you’re curious or trying to learn the game because the employees here will treat you quite rudely. While I was here, I was asking my boyfriend questions as he’s a bit more knowledgeable than I am, and the employees would audibly scoff at me and rolled their eyes at me many times. I felt like I was being treated as an idiot for not knowing any better and the air of condescension they had shown me really made me feel uncomfortable in this store. I also noticed I was getting disapproving glares from them when they thought I wasn’t looking, which was really alarming. Not only that, but they were very rude to a gentleman buying cards from them while I was there, giving snappy remarks and even going as far as to insult a card choice he made. I don’t know this guy, but his face showed me that he wasn’t satisfied with their attitude either.

Furthermore, this store is hilariously overcharging for their products which is pretty abysmal when their selection is so small; While yes, they have plenty of single cards for sale, if you’re there to buy a starter deck, you’re better off hitting up Walmart because their selection is far larger for both booster boxes and the starter decks. As far as over priced products go, an item that caught my boyfriend’s eye was being sold for $60 in this store when the same item can be bought on a amazon or in GameStop (of all places) for $40. I also saw an item that I was interested in priced at $80 when again, a quick online search netted me an average price of $50. Even their card sleeves are overpriced! We went to a different comic and game store right after and found the same set of card sleeves Manawerx had priced at $12 to only be $7 at the other store down the street.

Overall, I’m sure this store is fine if you’re a seasoned or experienced MTG player, but if you’re casual or just starting out in TCGs, I would avoid this place. The employees are rude and condescending, the selection of products is very small, and the pricing is ridiculously marked up. My experience at Manawerx was awful and I won’t ever be giving them my business.

Personally, if you’re looking for a store for TGCs that aren’t magic, I highly recommend Jesse James Comics down the street. They don’t carry magic, but honestly my experience at Manawerx was so discouraging that I don’t know if I even want to play MTG anymore, honestly. I went there after my Manawerx experience and when I asked about some games I’d never heard of, the gentleman working the card section was kind enough to not only explain them, but was eager to show us cards and help us find something new to get into and didn’t treat me like a moron for not being aware of everything. It was so pleasant and welcoming after such a bitter time at Manawerx. I’m also not affiliated or associated with Jesse James comics at all; I’m just a nerdy adult woman trying to find a TGC to play with my BF that was shunned and treated poorly and sought out business somewhere else and was happy to find somewhere I wasn’t...

I’ve been shopping at Amazing Discoveries since 2020, right when COVID hit, and it’s become my go-to spot for all things Pokémon (and so much more). From the moment I walked through their doors, the Owner treated me like family. Over the years, he’s blessed me with unbeatable prices and, on more than one occasion, surprised me with free posters and extra memorabilia—just because I can’t resist stocking up on cards whenever a new set drops!

What really sets Amazing Discoveries apart is the team. Everyone there is genuinely friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Whether I’m hunting down that one elusive holo Charizard or just browsing, they’re always ready with expert advice on deck-building strategies, card rarities, and even tournament meta. Their selection is downright jaw-dropping, spanning every Pokémon series you could imagine—and if you’re into other games, they carry Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Flesh and Blood, and more.

Prices here are refreshingly affordable, especially for a shop that’s this well-stocked. Plus, they regularly host in-store tournaments that are a blast whether you’re a competitive grinder or just looking for a fun Saturday afternoon. I’ve met so many fellow collectors, traded cards, and picked up tips on optimizing my decks—all in a welcoming, no-pressure environment.

Amazing discoveries are nothing less than the finest place to both visit, Play, and trade in Arizona. On top of that when faced with a financial situation in my case, I was left with no other choice but to sell my personal collection of TCG cards to save a family member, If it wasn't for the team here at this particular location, I would not be able to see a loved one alive today, they helped me out, they were very reasonable on the pricing too, but most of all treated me with dignity and respect which is very hard to come by in most places let alone a hobby store, but no matter what, from time and time again this store and its team have always been dedicated to serving the needs of its customers and honoring the value of what they stand for in the community, as a brand name, but most of all with all humility, be loved and be welcomed as I write this review when I say it is my honor and privilege to announce that amazing discoveries shall forever be immortalized as the highest ranking store in Arizona for the TCG and hobby shop world, stop by when possible at any amazing discoveries for they have many areas but especially this location for fun, and...
