Cutie Japan - Phoenix — Local services in Phoenix

I had never heard of this store until I saw a video about it on Instagram. I was so excited to go here. Turns out, it's located in a shopping center I've been visiting for years! I just never noticed Cutie tucked away in the corner.

This store is small and the aisles are narrow. However, it is stocked full of so many cute and fun things. Cutie sells snacks, drinks, ingredients for meals, stickers, cute and serious office and school supplies, baby items, health and beauty items, home goods, automotive and camping supplies, and kitchenware. There's even a tiny clearance section for food! It's really a lot packed into the small store.

Most items are priced at $1.75, which I guess is approximately the equivalent of 100 yen. Items that cost more (or less) are clearly marked.

I bought Hello Kitty stickers to share with a friend, some reduced price snacks, and a bottle of vegan oyster sauce that was reduced almost $4! Wow!

The workers were super friendly and seemed excited when my friend and I said it was our first time there.

Unprofessional management. A friend of mine was fired for retaliation. The only male native American working there didn't feel like he was being treated equal because of the constant verbal abuse he had to experience and it caused him mental pressure. The coworkers spoke about him which also costed him his job. It felt like a slap in the face after paying what he owed and hyping the store telling people to come and shop but just to be treated unfairly. His days were cut maliciously just for looking "exhausted". He saw right through her intentions. As a customer he was physically pulled by the manager without consent. I feel like this is what needs to be said about this place. It's a very toxic work environment and you're a target if you make one "little " mistake. He has asthma and mopped that store and ringed out the mop with his bare hands and the owner had not changed that mop head in a year. There was constant pressure and disrespect from that place especially located in HIS neighborhood. She can deny it but there are cameras and documents...

I've passed this place so many times but only recently went inside within the last half year. It was so worth it. I'm always looking for a place to get snacks and they carry my favorite shrimp snacks for a lot cheaper than the Asian markets down in Mesa! (And got me totally hooked on the Yuzu and Black Pepper ones like dang). I also love the Karamucho chips and the Yuzu soda they carry which are also cheaper than Asiana and Mekong. They also carry some of the kitchen supplies I've been needing to restock on for a great price.

They also carry pretty good art products for the price! They recently started carrying alcohol markers and I'm still testing those out, but they work as well as the off brand ones I've been using for a few years. ALSO. THEY CARRY ORIGAMI PAPER.
