I’ve visited this Food City location twice recently, and both experiences were incredibly disappointing. On Sunday, the self-checkout attendant was standing around texting instead of helping customers. It felt like she didn’t care about her responsibilities or the customers needing assistance.
Today (12/26) at 7 PM, I had an even worse experience with the cashier at register 4. Her attitude was shockingly sour—completely unapproachable and unprofessional. The customer in front of me tried to make polite conversation, but she ignored them entirely, which was extremely rude. During my transaction, she barely acknowledged me and was texting and laughing at her phone instead of paying attention. It was clear her phone was more important than providing even basic customer service.
To make things worse, I’ve noticed even the “armed” security at this location is always on their phone, texting and scrolling instead of monitoring the store. It doesn’t inspire much confidence when the staff—and even the security—are so disengaged.
While this spot is convenient, the unprofessionalism from the staff is a major turnoff. The team here could learn a lot from Ranch Market, where the cashiers are consistently friendlier, more attentive, and actually seem to value their customers. If Food City wants to retain regular shoppers, they need to address the poor attitudes and complete lack of focus from their employees. Shopping here feels like an unpleasant chore when...
Read moreI have been here about a dozen times since it is the closest grocery store to me. I can find the basics in the outside aisles but anything in the middle Isles is a small selection, it's more expensive than Fry's, and there are a lot of things they don't sell. This is a store for if you need Basics or if you need meats and these are Mexican-style meat like pieces of the pig and the cow that don't get sold at other grocery stores. Meats come.in large packages averaging $15 and I've never seen it on sale. I found some ground beef that looked weird but was cheap. The whole family got diarrhea from that. The alcohol selection is smaller than your average Circle K. The bakery is stocked with Mexican pastries which are tasty, but you will be hard pressed to find traditional pastries like cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, danishes. They don't have donuts.
They are always grilling whole chicken which are very salty and tasty. They also have a mini-restaurant with plenty of indoor tables. The food is pretty hearty. I saw mariarchis there once on a Sunday morning but I'm not sure how often they are there.
Check cashing maxes out at $500. You can't get more than that. They recently installed self-checkout stands which are very convenient. This is a decent store for finding basics if you want to avoid the madness that is the south Phoenix Fry's. But you'll probably spend $3-8 more on those items than you would if you...
Read moreI was at the store 2 days ago. I ordered two baked chickens and one of the burritos as a snack or the ride home. I'll tell you what. when I bit into that burrito that is the worst horrible flavor I've ever tasted before in a burrito made in a Mexican restaurant or grocery store. No one should have to bite into a cardboard flavored item sold at any store for the public to eat. Top it off get home and start eating the chicken only to find that it is dry completely dehydrated and no flavor whatsoever. I don't know what's going on at the store but it is failing and failing bad. Whoever the manager is over there I think his name is Aaron, you need to take a look at everything going on in your store. I've been to that store many times, and I also listen to the employees how they talk bad about each other and how bad they are treated by management. If you want to be a superior store in the South Phoenix area you need to treat your people better. They need to treat each other better. Leadership is all that they need and if you don't have the right attitude you'll never be a true leader. Aaron get it right man or get out of town and let somebody else come do the job. I can show you a few things but I can't show you how to be a honorable man to do your job! My name is Frank, and I approve my...
