Remember they are closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays! ;) Otherwise, have a good time browsing for lots of Japanese stuff. They carry periodicals, secondhand books, and even some free reading materials, so if you're into reading Japanese, this is a great source. It is primarily a grocery and variety store, though, so you'll find all kinds of food items, both perishable and non. The freezer section is full of interesting things... Mackarel, miso paste, nattou... Last time I found tofu donuts, which are gluten free, higher in protein, and quite tasty. I even bought seeds for my garden! And of course, you can find soup bases and dashi, and assorted candies. It's fun! The workers speak English, so don't be intimidated.

This is one of those hidden gems you dream about finding. There are many different authentic items from Japan, including a plethora of ingredients, sauces, and ready-made food items. In the back, there is a DVD and book sale area as well as clothing and housewares. The staff is incredibly helpful, especially if you are not fluent in Japanese. In many ways, stepping inside the store, almost feels like stepping back in time as it still has a hometown charm while providing excellent international goods. I cannot recommend this shop highly enough, and I hope they have great success in the future!

Excellent little store, very kind owners and it feels like you’ve gone back in time to the 90’s to a quieter, calmer life. Great selection of snacks, drinks, ingredients and even some fresh produce. They also have a nice cafe/sitting area in the back of the store. There’s also a Japanese DVD and book collection area! Highly recommend the New Tokyo Food Market!

Hai. "what an awesome feeling drinking a nice, chilled, cold Japanese Beer, during a hot summer heat here in the valley, Arizona". I have encounter some difficulties and problems here, however, nothing to do with my shopping experience. I shouldn't complain, Suzuki Law Firm is somewhat __. I can't complain that Yasha (Nerrik) is holding my mail from me. I can't complain that Japan discontinued selling my favorite caramel chocolate (Morinaga) because Amazon carrys it. I shouldn't have to call the police when I got my bike stolen upfront because it was so quick, I wished it was a ninja. :-) The list goes on and on. But, I would like to Compliment the staff/employee for an outstanding, beyond Excellent customer service. More than a Humble attitude.! Sanku so much family for everything your doing. I'm sorry for being a patgun ma'...

Authentic Japanese grocery store. Inside, not only do they have a wide variety of groceries, but all sorts of books, magazines, dvd's, cooking books, imported Asian alcohols, apparel, and kitchenware as well. Of course all of them being Japanese or Japanese themed. The staff there speak Japanese as well so good to go there for if you possibly are learning and want speaking (asking if they have x or y) or listening practice. The books also range in difficulty levels, like children's picture books to elementary/middle school level books to what's expected of a fluent reader.

Instead of calling it just a food market, it offers a very real slice of Japanese culture inside. Very nice to not just get your Japanese cuisine on, but also to get a slight taste of our overseas...

If you are interested in cooking Japanese food and need authentic ingredients, this is the place to go. I go nearly every week to look at their wide range of miso, pickled vegetables, tofu, fish cakes, and seaweed. They also have wonderful Japanese comfort foods and sweets. Occasionally you can find fresh enoki mushrooms or shiso, but they always seem to have goyo (burdock) and Japanese yams.

If you like Japanese stationary or kitchen ware (dishes and unique Japanese cooking tools), they have that too along with some great books.

Of course you will get wonderful service and kindness that you don’t normally get at grocery stores. The women who run this place are friendly and always smiling. It’s a highlight of my week and I always look forward to...
