Palm Glen Shopping Center — Local services in Phoenix

All the stores located here I truly enjoy going to. All except Food City. Very rude employees. I tried to ignore the racist comments and noticeable actions, but after a full year I had to find another grocery store nearby.

My fiance is African, & I am half Black American & half Hispanic American. When I am with him people assume I'm full African because of my features. Listening to their comments in Spanish about me & him & how they always watched my every move like I'm a thief felt 🤕 hurtful. I look very young like I'm in my early 20s but I'm in my mid 40s. I'm too old for drama & I try to stay kind & positive. I treat others with love & respect. These ladies that works in Food City became so mean to me & my fiance that I ended up pulling my phone 🤳 out and recording how awful 😞 we were being treated as local regular customers. I spoke to the lady in Spanish & told her

"Well after a full year of listening to you & your coworkers make fun of me & my fiance, I'm sure you are surprised I even know Spanish. I am not African, only my spouse is. I am Black & Mexican American. I will no longer be shopping here because of the disrespectful comments. Before I go, I would like the world to see why I no longer shop at this Food City. I am recording you & myself & showing the world how close you are to us & not paying any attention to other customers needing assistance or help with things because you're too busy treating me like a criminal & watching us as if we are trying to steal some fruits or food. We don't buy anything else here but food & have been coming here for over a year now. I will stay smiling 😊 & hope you enjoy the rest of your day."

Her eyes popped out of her head & she was speechless. After a full 2 min's, her only response was "I not doing nothing. I only working." As her whole body was facing nobody but me & she was within 3-5 steps away from me. I don't even stand that close to my fiance 😆. Two other customers were trying to get her attention for some help. So I ended my statement with "well mam you might want to start working over there & away from me. I enjoy my space from other people since COVID hit & two customers have been waiting patiently for your help. If that is part of your job duties. I hope that helps you to continue to work"..

I still have the video on my phone. I know she felt guilty & I'm sure she ended up telling her other coworkers about me speaking to her in Spanish 😂. Hopefully 🤞 they will start being more nice to others & keeping their comments to themselves & just doing their jobs....

this place trys to get over on you with its prices, if your not paying attention! i went in with my daughter. she was paying for us both as a birthday present to me... so as soon as they learned it was a treat for us the manicurist started cutting corners as if we had never had this done before.. an he states "i going to give you the 'wow' effect" umm the 'wow effect' was all bad! shame on him... so my advice PAY CLOSE ATTN TO THE MANICURISTS AN BEWARE !!!! BUT.. on the flip side the LADY who gave the pedicures...

Emergency (Dollar Tree) store trip - usually avoid this location. Parking lot is always atrocious with big gaping pot holes. Never seem to fill them - just put hazard cones down...sometimes

There is a school located on same property and both traffic and students from this school can impede access to other businesses and car movement

Store I entered was low on stock, not all that clean and had a lot of people (not necess shoppers) milling around
