I am typically not one to do bad reviews, and try my best to leave good ones instead. However this salon and their very rude and arrogant management has led me to do so. I went in on Saturday requesting an auburn balayage (have provided the inspo pic below). Instead, I was given a very blonde, patchy balayage. I went home wanting to settle and not have to go back. However, after texting my stylist (who I will not name) and told her I am looking to add more auburn as it looks blonde. She had me come in the next day and only had the idea that she was going to TONE me... not add the auburn color. I told her my "money pieces" were pretty orange and that I'm not happy with them and would like them to go. She told me she didn't have time to do that and that we would need to schedule another time... a week later. For paying over $300 I felt waiting a full week with choppy, ugly hair was absolutely not going to happen. She knew I was unhappy with my hair. I decided to go to another salon (Snapdragon Salon) HIGHLY RECOMMEND. They noticed my haircut was very choppy, and also said it themselves the money pieces were too thin and not faded enough at all. I called root today asking nicely (at first) for a refund because I paid $300 for something worth maybe $50. The manager was absolutely rude and clearly thought the situation to be funny. Here are some comments I received from him "let me talk" (said this after I corrected his false statement about my requests), "you took it upon yourself to go somewhere else because you needed it NOW NOW NOW" (um I gave the stylist a second chance but she "didn't have time" and must not have completely understood what I was asking for. She wanted me to go GOLD not AUBURN). I started this conversation very calm and collected simply asking for either a full refund or at least half of it back. They are cheap, rude, ignorant, and highly unprofessional. If you are wanting something close to the inspo pic you have in mind, please go to Snapdragon Salon as it is very close to the root, you get a consultation before beginning, and time is put into the job. The last pics are what I received from Snapdragon. Pretty nice right!?

Our hair IS probably one of the most important things to us! I just moved to Phoenix and had been with my previous trusted hair stylist for 20 years! So it was very daunting to find a new stylist...I did my research and I will tell you that The Root Salon was such a pleasant experience, from the initial phone call (btw- asking all the right questions to fit the perfect fit) , to arriving at front desk to my new stylist Britt. I LOVE my hair cut- in every way. Britt did a beautiful match with my color AND I have resistant "silvers" and she took care of that. I feel so grateful that I found the perfect place!

This place used to be excellent but this is no longer the case. During my last visit I arrived to discover, after sitting in the waiting area for 15 minutes, that my stylist is sick and won’t be able to do my hair. I was lucky enough to have someone jump in and say the could fit me in. At the end though, I paid over $200 for a mediocre coloring job and the worst haircut I’ve ever received. I have a blunt cut in the front that’s 2-3 inches shorter than it should be. I also think it’s silly they charge something like $40 to blow dry your hair. I’m done with root salon.

I met with Mckenna to take my level 8 ombre down to a rich, chocolate brown color. I am obsessed with doing my own hair research, especially when I decide to get it done professionally, and Mckenna was very educated about the tint back process! She understood that even though my ends were lighter, she needed to fill in the color first with the pigments that were taken out from lightening (gold tones, orange, red) and then go over it with the actual chocolate brown color. I showed her my inspiration picture, and from that, she knew exactly what I wanted! A rich, dark brown tone that was NEUTRAL. Some people who want to go to a chocolate brown show pictures with red undertones, and from one picture Mckenna knew exactly what I wanted! I am also very impressed because although she was balancing multiple clients at once, she managed her time very well, and she still made me feel important and took time with the process. I liked that she was very confident in what she was doing, but still took the time to check on the color throughout the process. I can't rave enough about Mckenna (since I've had several bad experiences at other salons), but I also appreciated the fact that she took the time to discuss and book a follow-up appointment with me! Some stylists just pass you off to the receptionist afterwards and don't have these conversations, but because she knows I want to keep my hair healthy and beautiful for my wedding in October, she made a point to schedule out with me. Oh, AND I also loved that she took the time to educate one of the apprentices (I think) of the tint back process when doing my hair. Again, it showed her confidence but also her passion to educate and share knowledge with her colleagues. Go...

There's a reason this place gets a lot of good reviews. They earned them! I stopped by to "scope" the place out and inquire about what they could do with my hair. I was spoken to with care, not hype. No one tried to sell me on services or products. Made an appointment with Brittany for the next day. To start, I'm lady of a "certain age" which means that my hormones (or lack of them) have not been kind to my hair. Arizona water did the rest. I have been subjecting my hair to bad cheap haircuts at bargain places and it showed. I needed a deep cut, conditioning, and re-vamping. Brittany spent lots of time getting to know me and my problems before she touched my hair with a scissors. She gave me the best deep conditioning I have ever had. I could actually feel the silkiness return to my hair even at that stage. We agreed on how much needed to be cut and felt that a color correction needed to wait until my hair was healthier and a style was settled on. She had me check her progress with a mirror at every stage to make sure I was happy with what she was doing. Who does that? Someone who cares about their work, that's who. The end result was a total transformation. My hair actually moved! It was so fried prior to this that it was just stiff. When I came home my husband said that the difference between my bargain cuts and this one was that she sculpted the hair to my face, rather than just cut it. In addition to Brittany being amazing, the staff was friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Thank you Root Salon and thank you big time...
