onyxicecreamphx is a new aesthetically pleasing and taste bud pleasing ice cream shop located in the heart of Uptown Phoenix on 7th st and Bethany Home. The deep and bright colors of both the shop and the treats are designed with instagram in mind... and it works. The shop itself is clean and inviting, with a relaxing back patio area shared with other local restaurants. Having fresh made rotating flavors on the menu is a great excuse to stop in often.
Onyx Coconut and the purple Ube are signature flavors that can be enjoyed individually or swirled together... and they work so well either way. Currently, the other two offerings are pink Saguaro and blue sea salt. Again, enjoy on their own or in a tasty swirl of flavor. I loved all four flavors. They are sweet enough to curb that craving but a muted sweetness that is so subtle. Other flavors on rotation include Thai Tea, oatmilk Matcha, and Yuzu. Bonus: the yuzu, matcha, and Saguaro are all vegan and dairy free. I didn't try the signature black hand rolled come, so I guess I need to return again soon!

He also said he uses real fruit purees to get his flavors, so they tasted strong and natural and not at all artificial. Also, he said the chocolate cone was something new he’s experimenting with because black cocoa powder is another way to get a really saturated black food product naturally, and it’s delicious! I hope that stays on the menu. Also, the torched marshmallow cream around the top of the cone was a great addition, it added that complex smoky Carmel aroma you get from crème brûlée to every bite, without making...
Read moreStopped by on a Saturday afternoon while out doing a little bit of shopping. I saw this spot had some unique ice cream flavors and black ice cream cones, so we wanted to try it out.
The Ube/Onyx Coconut swirl was a delicious flavor combo, the ice cream itself was just the right consistency and really hit the spot on a hot day. The cones were a bit hard, so I think if we stop by again three our of the four of us would get a cup instead. The addition of adding on toasted marshmallows is a nice touch, it smelled great and my mom loved it on her cone.
My daughter tried the sea salt. It was pretty tasty as well, the salt wasn't overpowering. The décor inside is fun & cozy, when we stopped by there was no one else there so we had our...
