Dollar General — Local services in Pilesgrove Township

It's a dollar store, innit? Not exactly; many, perhaps most, of the stock did not cost precisely USD$1.00. Most of it was cheap, though, and I had a revelation about how and why.

You go to a store like this, the product on the shelves is overstock or unsold product from other stores. I am certain that I've seen the lamps being sold here for approximately $10 at a higher price point in Walmart some time ago, and I had a nostalgia trip for Halloween by buying white chocolate pumpkin Reese's Cups here that I'm rather certain were unsold last year at Halloween.

Still, I found some surprisingly nice treats here at bargain prices, and I doubt they're selling anything which is outright out-of-date; product that goes fully out-of-date would work its way to the Cowtown flea...

The level of nihilistic indifference the employees here display is almost impressive. They've freed themselves of expectation, obligation, and guilt. I've stood at the counter for several minutes waiting for a register operator, only to then notice one lounging silently on the floor behind the register where they were sitting with their back to the counter, hiding from customers, on their phone. They close early with no notice or remorse and will tell you to your face with cold indifference. The floors are so dirty you actually notice walking in how bad they are, ancient black wads of gum spotted everywhere, tread by thousands. Radio station on the speakers is 2/3 static. Even the parking lot is like a set from a war movie. This place is Dollar General at...

The store use to be awesome fully stocked, you could be able to reload cards when you wanted, and the employees were actual nice and helpful and didnt have a attuide. But now the stores half empty, cant even reload your card when you want and half the employees catch a attuide when i pay for my stuff the younger ones like why you getting mad at me for paying either fix your attuide or find a new job. I feel unwelcomed in there and the store is dirty I feel like I need to take a shower when I leave from there. Oh and the employees slammed my things when ringing me up like ghetto. Dollar general...
