I was a little uncomfortable at first when I came in with my camera and said I didn't need help all 3 times I was asked within a few steps of entering. One of the staff members scoffed at me after I noticed him glaring at me and looked over (younger guy with dark hair and short beard). After the initial awkwardness, I was able to explore the store without being watched or followed and found out it's more extensive than I had thought from previous visits. They have 3 floors of just about everything you would want or need in & around your house. Everything is neat, well organized and clean. I just never made it very far into the store before on account of the staff being very forward, almost confrontational. I know it's family-owned and probably the only hardware store in Pine River, but if I'm not looking for anything specific, I would really rather travel and avoid being put on the spot by several people. I think this store could be 5 stars, it's just awkward whenever I go there. Aside from the guy who glared and scoffed at me, the rest of the staff seemed like nice people who love the store. I also got the impression that the older couple would have been extremely knowledgeable if I had specific hardware needs. It takes a while to explore everything. In fact, I spent so long in the store, I bought a pair of pliars out of...
Read moreI stopped in to purchase some picture hardware today with my service dog. I got up to the service counter and two dogs came out of nowhere and went after my service dog. My dog barked and took cover between me and the counter and the store’s dogs were on either side of me trying to get her. The lady behind the counter yelled pick the dog up and I am disabled but with my adrenaline got the strength to do it. Another older woman was able to grab their dogs. My dog had her service vest on and I told the lady after I had my dog in my arms that she is a service dog. She responded saying that they have a sign on the door stating No Pets. Unfortunately they don’t know about ADA laws; Under the ADA, State and local governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that serve the public generally must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas of the facility where the public is allowed to go. I have RA and heart issues in addition to being a stroke victim. I will NEVER walk into this establishment again and will tell others not to as well. They never asked if I or my dog were ok and if you saw their door, it is loaded with notes all over it like a...
