Bodega Film Lab — Local services in Pittsburgh

This is THEE place to go for all your film and photo processing needs. I live in New York City, where there's a million different film photo processing labs to choose from, but I always send my film in the mail to Bodega Film Lab because the quality of service, and the customer services is truly like no other. Here's why I love them:

As someone who is fairly new to film photography, it can be intimidating. Whenever I go to stores in NYC, they can be very patronizing to amateurs, especially when you ask questions about cameras and services - so I'm reluctant to ask anything. Yet, I had the chance to go to Bodega Film Labs in person while visiting a friend in Pittsburgh, and stopped in to ask some questions about recommendations and services. Both people in the store came up to me with a smile, and happily told me about their favorite film recommendations, and what services I'd need to be developed. They're genuinely so sweet and helpful, which is something that I've never experienced in a film store. When I told them I was visiting, they even gave me a free tote bag! They really care about the photography community that they serve.

On top of this, their stock of film that they sell is exceptional, and no where in the US can compete. They stock European exclusives with filters you cant get in the US, all for retail price. (If I were to buy the film they stock directly from the producers in Europe, I'd have to pay 60$ in shipping alone!) They also have really fun and niche film I haven't seen anywhere else, like pre-exposed rolls overlayed with graphics, and film that completely changes the colors of the photo you took. It really encourages experimentation, which has helped me grow. They are my one stop shop for purchasing film, asking questions and getting my photos developed.

BB is one of my favorite places to visit frequently in the Pittsburgh area. Not only is the owner Pat incredibly nice, he’s very knowledgeable about a wealth of cultural information including but not limited to; cameras, photography, fashion, design, art, street culture, animals, clothing manufacturing and much more. I’ve watched him build and grow BB over the last few years and I’ve become a great fan of his work. I also get ALLLL of my film developed by him. His prices and turnaround time are easily the best in the city, not to mention the quality of scans he provides. If you’re in the area, or visiting Pittsburgh, his storefront is a great place to stop for film development, refreshing clothing and information regarding the coolest spots in town.

Wonderful lab. Very small and intimate feel but every employee I've talked to has been super nice and they always go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience and the scans and development is always great. Best I've got from any local lab. And their film prices are wayyy cheaper than any other photo store I've been too. (But still a bit above internet pricing, but what can you do). I trust them completely with all my film dev and know it's going to be great every time. Also their support rules cuz I had to reach out via email about some order changes and they not only easily remedied it but also answered me on a day the store was supposed to be closed!...
