I went to Radio Skateshop to have three retro decks completely outfitted with rails, tailbones, trucks, wheels, risers, grip tape, and hardware. Eric, one of the owners that helped me, did a fantastic job. I thought, understandably, that I would need to pick the finished product up in a few weeks. Eric built them for me right on the spot.
Moreover, Eric has always been very personable, knowledgeable, and professional in all of our interactions. I really appreciated his attention to detail and passion for skateboarding. It was really important to him that I be happy with the finished product. Needless to say I am extremely pleased with the final result.
In conclusion, Radio Skateshop is a hidden gem in the East End area of Pittsburgh. Whether you are a rank beginner, journeyman, or seasoned veteran, Radio Skateshop is fully capable of providing an awesome customer service experience. I highly recommend Radio Skateshop for addressing all of your...
Read moreThis is the best shop in Pittsburgh and honestly its one of the best examples of a "core" shop that still exists. Just going and hanging out and watching skate vides or shooting the breeze with the employees and regulars is one of the best ways to get integrated with the 412 skate community. The guys who run it are awesome, the shop products are always high quality and well designed, they have a great selection of hardware, and they stock a lot of small and independent brands and local products as well. If I had to make a complaint it would be that its a pretty small space so if its busy things can get a little cramped, but that's the only thing even remotely negative I can say about this place, but they maximize the space they have and in other situations the cozy vibe is definitely a plus. It kinda just feels like hanging out with your friends and occasionally buying something from them, which is exactly what a skate shop should...
Read moreBest shop in Pittsburgh and one of the best small shops you'll find anywhere. They cram a ton of awesome product into the shop from both the big staple brands (dlx, bakerboys etc) and a stellar selection of the small, independent brands. Really impressive board wall and their shoe selection is on point... numerics, lakais, last resorts, Vans etc. What sets this place apart from other shops is the people though.. Eric says whats up to every single person that walks in the door and genuinely cares about his customers. A kid came in to buy bearings while I was there and Eric noticed his wheels were totally worn down and probably making skating our rough streets way harder than it needed to be, so he went in the back and found an old set of his wheels and hooked him up. Every shop is supposed to do stuff like that, but not a lot still do. This place is the real deal and they deserve all the support in the world . Go check it out...
