I joined Steadfast Barbell in January of 2021. I was NOT a gym person and was very skeptical. I had walls up and never planned I would want to go to the gym more than twice a week. I now go 5-6 days per week for the physical, mental, emotional and social benefits Steadfast Barbell provides.
Every person at the gym (coaches, staff and members) is encouraging and genuinely wants to help you achieve your goals inside and outside the gym.
The coaches all meet you where you are without judgement. They want to help you improve your fitness safely and translate progress from the gym into your life outside the gym. The coaches will push you when needed; they assess and build relationships with the members so they know when gentle pushing is needed and to give tough love.
Jonathan and Stephanie are the owners and have hearts of gold. They are intentional in creating a space where there is a strong sense of community with care and compassion for one another. Steadfast Barbell is Jonathanâs mission field and I can confidently say he changes lives through his work.
Coach Michael is a great coach and an even better friend. He is quick to build relationships with everyone who walks through the door. His relational skills are displayed through his coaching excellence. He is kind and compassionate while still giving tough love and direct guidance when needed.
Coach Amber is an inspiration to me every time I set foot in the door. She encourages me to do better and never lets me settle for less than my bestâŚand has some of the highest standards of anyone Iâve met but uses her sharp eye to help others improve. She is tough and wants the best for others and will do everything she can to help you get there.
Coach Feenstra is a gem. He helps me with weightlifting twice a week and manages to always give me a takeaway that applies not only to fitness but to life.
Every coach at Steadfast Barbell (Pri, Carlin, Daniel, Hannah, Kyle, and Oks) is truly excellent and I cannot speak highly enough of them. If you are on the fence about joining a gym or feel skeptical of CrossFit and/or weightlifting, I encourage you to set that aside, walk into Steadfast Barbell and have a conversation with Jonathan or any of the coaches. With consistency, this place (these people) will change your life for the better.
Steadfast - thank you for all you do for me and my family...
Read moreSteadfast has been a transformative experience for my life. I never was a âgym personâ and never thought I would enjoy working out in a gym atmosphere. Four years ago, at the urging of my wife I begrudgingly went to CrossFit and met Jonathan and Michael and the rest of the coaches. To say my expectations were wrong would be an understatement. What I found were coaches and an accepting atmosphere who meet you where you are and provides the encouragement to push yourself to the next level.
Do not mistake my comment above as saying the coaches will not push you. The workouts challenge you and you will see results from your hard work. If you would have told me in the spring of 2020 that I would compete in Murph, let alone finish Murph, I would have laughed in your face. Now Murph is a highlight of my year.
Not to be forgotten is the community at Steadfast which is exceptional. I have made some very good friends and to be honest seeing those familiar faces and sharing a laugh at the end of a long day is almost as beneficial as the workout.
The results speak for themselves. I am down nearly 30 pounds; my strength and conditioning are better than at any point in my life. I only wish I would have started sooner. I cannot imagine NOT doing this. I am officially addicted to the gym and working...
Read moreI am 72 years old and had thought I would spend the rest of my life having trouble getting out of a chair, getting out of the car, walking up steps holding onto the railing hoping not to fall. Never in the last 7 years have I been able to get down on the floor to play with my grandchildren. Was able to carry very little, everything was just too heavy. When I met Jonathon and talked to him - I felt he was the one I could trust to change things for me to enjoy life more. Along the way the last 4 months he has changed my strength so much. We ran into a few weeks of medical problems that either one of us gave into. Through his knowledge , faith, and kindness we were able to get past it. I look forward to continuing building strength that I never thought was possible. I have accomplished the strength for all the things I have mentioned above of not being able to do. My main goal was to be able to pick up my 30 pound 6 month old grandson and I can do it now and it is a great feeling. If you are looking for someone to give you hope of a very different life, Johnathan is the one to help you, not only with strength but with faith. I thought at 72 it was too late, but as he has always told me it is never too late and that is so true. I can not thank Johnathon enough -...
