Sunnyside Antiques — Local services in Plainfield

The customer service is terrible. I told the owner I wanted a figurine out of the cabinet. She refused to open the cabinet until I looked at other figurines outside the cabinet. I tell her 5 mins later I still want this one in the cabinet and she made this big deal of it. I told her up front I knew there was one in the cabinet that I wanted. The cabinet explicitly says “get an associate to open.” Leave it unlocked if you don’t want people to have to bother you to open it. She then proceeded to talk rudely about my friend and I to another customer right in front of us. We were confused about the check out situation, this was our first time in the store, and she was just chatting with another woman and her child at the front. We just let her know we were ready to check out when she got time and she proceeded to tell us she would help us after the other woman, which was totally fine, but then looked at the other woman and made a comment about how impatient we are. We were not trying to be impatient the check out area was just confusing and it wasn’t clear that the other woman was being rung up. I will never come back to this store because of the way the owner...

So, it’s Saturday and it’s a few minutes to 5pm and we saw the open sign so stopped to park and walk up to the store just for the lady to walk out and say we close at 5pm. A shame that you go to support a small business and they decline not one person but an entire group of five people to shop in their store. Come on folks. If you’re going to have a small business be willing to stay open longer for walkers by on a Saturday in the evening during Chatham break when the trees are all lit; what’s the point in coming to a small town to a small business if the stores...

The negative reviews shocked me! I have been to this hidden gem and it is one of my favorite antique stores! I always find a good trinket or two. Parking can be difficult and it has limited hours but all antique stores are like that. The owner is always very nice to me and doesn't follow me around the store. She has even let me park in her driveway and stayed open past closing to shop so again I am surprised so many negative comments about Sunnyside Antiques. I would highly recommend this store if you are looking for some unique, well...
