I celebrated a special occasion here last month right when they reopened after remodeling. It was the perfect choice!
๐ป๐ผโ๐โ/๐ธ๐๐๐๐โโ๐ผโ๐ผ Our server said everything was new inside, and the decor definitely was part of the elegant experience. When you sit down at the table with the fancy plates already set on it, matching the napkins rolled into the silver ring holders, with a vase of flowers, and the whole table lit by candlelight, you just felt like you were celebrating a special night.
I made reservations for two, so we got right in and were seated in the back dining room. The long, built-in fireplace runs along one side of the room above seated patrons, while a wall of richly framed mirrors covers the upper half of the other side, reflecting the light given off by the fancy crystal chandeliers above. Most of the tables in that room are booth seat on the wall sides and chairs on the opposite. The booth is the style where the bench runs the entire length of the wall for all the tables, so I appreciated the extra room for my bags!
๐๐ผโ๐ Their food menu is currently a plastic sheet, which the staff said is easy to wipe off. Our server left a tablet device on our table for us to look at before we ordered that had their large drink menu of wine, cocktails, and beer. The few desserts were also listed on the tablet in their own menu tab. I assumed she would take it after we ordered to give to other patrons, so rather than have to ask for it back or wait for it, I took a picture with my phone of the tablet's screen with the other drinks I was considering on it, so I would not forget their names or ingredients.
๐๐ผโ๐๐โ๐ผ Our server, Amanda, was kind and attentive, even with as crowded as HopScotch & Vine was on the Saturday night. She asked if we wanted an appetizer soon after we were seated, but I had only perused the tablet drink menu thus far, and she said there was no rush, as she was there until 11pm. She checked back in with us frequently, asking how we liked every dish and cocktail.
๐ธโโ๐ผ๐๐โค๐ผโ For our appetizer, we had the Stuffed Mushrooms, which we ordered at the same time as dinner, since we were ready to order both by then. Amanda said she would hold our dinner order until after the appetizer, which I appreciated being able to take my time and enjoy it without dinner coming too fast โ but we were not waiting excessively long for our meal either; this server timed turning our dinner order in perfectly!
The Stuffed Mushrooms were actually my favorite dish of the night. They were very flavorful and packed full of the herbed cream cheese, not too mention served so hot that even after taking a few pics, they were still burning your mouth! I told our server that I am normally a dip/sauce person, but they were so tasty that I could eat them alone. Amanda made sure to inform me though that the sauce is meant to compliment them, which she is absolutely right. The hint of sweet in the chili Thai dipping sauce was the perfect pair to the battered and fried appetizer.
๐ป๐โโ๐ผโ I ordered Chicken Piccata, which came with roasted veggies and risotto. It was prepared and presented nicely, but I will say it was a different flavor than any chicken piccata I have ever had before. My husband had Chicken Parmesan and agreed with me on my meal's assessment, saying it was delicious but light-flavored. It was a refreshing change, though, to have these two common dishes prepared a little differently to taste.
โ๐โ๐๐๐ธ๐๐๐ My first drink was my favorite, the Champagne Cosmo, although it was served in a small coupe glass, leaving me wanting more of the refreshing bubbly beverage! I ended with the HopScotch Old Fashioned.
๐๐โ๐ธ๐๐๐โ There is parallel street parking on the same street that the restaurant is located on (Lockport St), as well as angled street parking on the nearest cross streets. Another option is public parking lots located to the north on the streets perpendicular to the restaurant's, about a block...

You know that kind of cute girl who buys all the wrong clothes? She doesnโt really know how to apply makeup or accessorise, but deep down sheโs cute. Thatโs Hopscotch and wine.
Iโll start with the decor. Meh. Basic Home Depot tile. โCountyโ white washed decor. Becky followed that up with black paint because she read it was trending on Pinterest. Not ugly, but this is basic decor for a mini mall restaurant.
Drinks. I ordered an old fashioned. And it was served with ice. Seriously. Anyone who drinks bourbon is cringing right now.
Appetizer- spinach artichoke dip. The dip was actually very tasty, BUT it was served with tortilla chips. What Real Housewives episode did this Becky get this recipe combination from?
Main course - tenderloin sandwich with horseradish and pasta salad. The tenderloin was very tasty. Horseradish was so mild I thought it might be ranch dressing. Odd, but maybe Becky thinks real horseradish might be too sharp for girls night out. The pasta salad was literally straight out of a Costco deli tub.
Service- excellent. No complaints. Our server was nice and attentive.
Overall- this could have been a great dinner but was mired down with mediocrity. Sorry Becks, youโre cute but weโre not a match.
Becky, i mean Hopscotch, is the kind of restaurant thatโs wants you to take her to prom, but you will most likely ghost her. And she will post about it on her vlog....
ย ย ย Read moreWas pretty unwhelmed. We were there today Sat. at a little after noon. They just opened at 11:00am and they were not at all crowded. I say this because our server was not very attentive at all. We looked for her to take our order. When we asked her about what salad dressing they had she seemed put out. We had to look for her to take our order and refill our sodas. When the food came out I had chicken, I think it's a caprese chicken sandwich and the chicken breast which showed grilled marks wasn't even warm. So with grill marks on it, they actually GRILLED IT sometime.....but when? It a Was not at all anything but room temp. The artichoke/ spinach appetizer tasted like sour cream. No flavor or seasoning. I have seen this place and wanted to go here for a long time So my husband and I took our daughter and her boyfriend here for her birthday. I didn't enjoy the food or the service from our server AT ALL. THE other 2 servers sounded very pleasant at the two other tables but our service made us feel like we were putting her out. I wish we had a better experience. I feel so bad we took a chance here for our daughters special day. The decor is pretty and I bet if you get a drink and maybe a different appetizer it could be nice but the food was no tasty at all and the server made us feel unwelcomed. We won't be going back for...
