Fareway Stores — Local services in Pleasant Hill

I have recently become frustrated with HyVee. I have never shopped Fareway much. I decided to try out Fareways online ordering system.

I downloaded the app. The app itself works very well. Its simple, and user friendly. The only downside to the app was the search criteria seems a bit limited. If I search for instant potatoes, it doesn't recognize that term. They come up under "mashed potatoes". There were a couple other items that were also diffucult to search, but overall, the app is great, and maybe it won't hurt me to broaden MY search vocabulary.

Fareways ordering system is great. Just like with HyVee, you place your order through the app. Select a store, and a time slot to pick up. But Fareways system is better. At HyVee, when you make your order, you have the option to choose your substitutions for out of stock items, right in the app. But, no matter how detailed you are, the shopper will still either text message and ask what substitution you want, or the most popular is they just omit that item from your order. But, you won't know that until you put your groceries away, and realize your well laid dinner plans have become last minute Dominos. At Fareway, I received a link with options to choose from. A couple of those options were also out of stock, and I received other options to choose from. In the end, of 5 out of stock items, I was able to substitute all but one.

When I arrived at pick up time, my order was ready. The lady who I assume (I don't know for sure) was my personal shopper, was very friendly and personable. She loaded my groceries into the truck, while chatting with me. She was apologetic that she had to make so many substitutions, and explained that one of their vendors have been slow delivering. Overall, it was a good experience. As opposed to the young men who loaded my groceries at HyVee (east Euclid) who asked my name, loaded my groceries, closed the door and left.

My experience with online shopping at Fareway was great. If you're going to go with the online pick up version of grocery shopping, I would highly revommend Fareway in Pleasant Hill. I will be ordering again in 2 weeks.

I have only made one trip inside the Fareway in Pleasant Hill, and I have not tried delivery there. In the near future I will check out those...

Being a senior citizen and having problems with hip and knee because of arthritis and artificial knee getting around the store without a motorized cart is very difficult. Your newer store in Pleasant Hill Ia only has TWO carts. Both were in use. After waiting a few minutes one cashier said she would find me and bring me the motorized cart which she never did. I was standing at the meat counter ordering a bundle waiting for a cart in a lot of back and hip pain for several minutes(at least 20 min) so had to ask for someone to check. He got me a motorized cart.... Finally. Not a good or Pleasant experience. Later on I went to the fairway in Ankeny Iowa on way to a birthday...guess what to my dismay NO MOTORIZED CARTS available.Another bad experience. You REALLY NEED MORE THEN TW0 MOTORIZED CARTS. Don't think I will shop at Fairway again but else where where carts are available which is sad because I like your meats much better but not the severity of pain I and I am sure other Senior citizen will have to indure to shop at your stores. Sorry but you lose...

Store very clean, organized & well staffed. Customer service excellent answering questions, friendly quality service with a smile. Prices competitive & sale priced items in stock! All around pleasant shopping experience & appreciate store associates delivering your groceries to your vehicle. In addition, I appreciate the staff's maturity, quality, & professionalism & delivering a team effort! Each employee wearing their name tag is helpful also. Excellent outcome & will continue to patronize this store in the future. Thanks again to all employees @ this store, including all members of management!
