I was in the area for a month or so with my girlfriend’s family looking for a place to work out in. After some searching, me and my girlfriend decided on Snap Fitness. We were not disappointed!
We stopped in at 3 for their staffed hours. Shortly after, we chatted with Gordon. Gordon is probably the friendliest gym employee I have ever met. There were some issues with the computer when he was trying to register us, but he called the owner, Mike, and he was able to set us up over the phone. We paid just $50 for a dual membership (for me and the gf) for a month and as long as we returned the keycard we wouldn’t get charged a card deposit either. Mike even gave us an extra month for free! All of the membership options, in my opinion, were extremely reasonable for a 24/7 gym.
The gym itself is pretty standard with a variety of cardio and strength equipment. There is a smaller stretch/aerobics/class room. The free weight section was also nice with dumbbells ranging up to 100. There were plenty of benchs, two squat racks, two cable machines, an inclince and standard bench press, leg press, and about a dozen machines. They were also in the process of getting a bunch of new equipment in (we were there for a new smith machine, bench, and bars). The bathrooms (one with a shower) were also very clean.
We always went around 3 during the week which was fairly quiet. We almost never had to wait to use a machine or weight. I heard the morning is there busiest hours. The other members were nice enough and wiped down there equipment after.
While not a mecha of weightlifting, it was a very respectable, affordable, and convenient gym to be a part of. Way better than any mega-chain gym you would find in any city.
Easily the best part of our experience was Gordon. Gordon made us feel welcome from day one. He always made time to chat with us when he came in, but also respected our workout time (i.e. not trying to chat us up in the middle of a set). He remembered our names (and the names of everyone else there) and things we had chatted about. He was always busy doing something: from fixing lights, cleaning up, maintaining the equipment, or just checking in. Thank you Gordon for making our experience that much better!
We absolutely will be signing up again when we come...
Read moreIt's a small gym compared to other gyms like Vasa. Because of the size, it means the equipment you want to use is taken a lot of the time. So be willing to switch up your workout. I did notice about half the cardio machines are broken or not completely functional. E.g. some treadmills, bikes, and stair steppers don't turn on. For the equipment that does turn on, buttons are missing or non functional on the displays. To say the least, the cardio equipment needs a huge overhaul. They remained open during Covid, but have not improved cleaning measures from before, so beware. Basically they expect everyone to clean up after themselves, which obviously doesn't always happen.
Edit: My review is already a one star, but after trying to cancel, I wish I could drop it to zero. I've had memberships to snap fitness at both Layton and Roy, and was able to cancel and reopen my memberships there at will. I was planning to cancel and gave management a heads up and they said no big and to just reach out again by the end of the month I wanted to cancel. Well I did so and they informed me they needed a formal email to cancel. That's new to me compared to the Layton & Roy locations, but I went along. Then they respond and say it's a 30 day cancellation policy from the email date, so they're going to charge me another month. Going back on your word is not cool! Definitely never...
Read moreI have been at this gym for years now. I was extremely shocked when I was charged yesterday and it was an additional 30 dollars on my bill. When i went to the gym this morning i read every sign that was up thinking there was something I must of missed, the only notes i seen was for additional classes I could join. I then called the gym this morning to be informed the gym is moving Saturday will be the last day the gym i go to will be open and because its a new gym that is why the memberships went up. I informed the gentleman I was speaking to that I never got any notifications of this at all. He apologized and said he was aware that there was nothing sent out to the customers and that he was willing to cancel my membership and give me a refund. Really sucks that I lost that trust with this gym as I have been here for at least 5 years possibly more and out of nowhere there was massive lack of communication. Now I have to look for a different gym with no notice. (the gentleman did state it isn't that far they are moving. It is far to me as you are 2.2 miles from my house already and now it is 3.6 when vasa is only 2 and cheaper then the 40 I was never made aware I would be paying). I would of possibly been more understanding if the communication aspect would...
