SHOP ‘n SAVE — Local services in Plum

There is a common theme amongst the reviews here. Poor service and frequently expired goods being sold. We've learned, having come here for many years (out of sheer convenience of location) to ALWAYS look for dates on everything. Also not the cleanest place. One year I had a contest with my wife to see how long it would take for the fallen hunk of cheese in the dairy cooler to be cleaned up... (months). The check out personnel , 9 out 10 times will go through the entire check out process with out saying one single word to you. Most times the cashier is in deep conversation with the a bagger. Today the cashier lady was telling the bagging girl an enthralling story about her sick dog throwing up all over the place at home. Not...One... Single...Word... or even a glance to me as a customer. She looked away when handing me the receipt. This is unacceptable, but sadly, this is par for the course. I blame management on all of this. We see great service at most other local stores..Aldi, and even the new Dollar General have polite and friendly staff. It is sad. Lately we've been traveling more elsewhere to other stores. I’m really confused by the review that mentioned an in-store florist. Not at this store! There are bunches of flowers, but it’s nearly impossible to find a bunch that doesn’t include dead flowers.There is a bakery.

You can be sure that there will be items on your list that are out of stock. It amazes me how often the milk shelves are empty.

You need to check the expiration/sell by dates on EVERYTHING in the store. Canned goods, packaged produce, ketchup, frozen foods...EVERYTHING. Again, you can be sure that something on your list is out of date. The “frozen” turkeys in the coolers in the back of the store are always partially thawed. In fact, much of the frozen foods are partially thawed.

The meat always has a sell by date of no more than 24 hours. I avoid the deli since I can’t see the dates on the meats and cheeses.

If any other store opened nearby, this store would go out of business. When I spoke with one of the managers a few years ago, about the sign in the deli which stated: DO NOT TURN OFF BUG KILLER, his response was to ask if I didn’t think they...

I work for Instacart shopping/delivery and I am sent to this store quite often ..I just have to say thank you to the staff starting in produce all the way to the checkout line, everyone is so friendly and helpful!!! Today I had a 2 large orders , Too much for one cart. And Conor, Offered to help me finish finding the items I needed, helped me bag everything and got me a second cart and helped take the groceries out to my car! That was so generous, kind thoughtful and above and beyond his job duties ! I just see this everywhere in this store! Jeff in the meat department is amazing- he always goes out of his way to get me what I need for my customers. The produce, bakery & deli staff are also incredible helpful and friendly I appreciate them so much! The checkout girls and baggers- I can’t thank them enough for all their help and always being willing to separate my orders for me, bagging them differently- so that I can do you my job the best way.
