If you have a piece of furniture in need of repair or refinishing run -don't walk- to Restoration Station! We have an old, large china cabinet with a gigantic attached mirror with a shelf. I love the inlaid wood details and the size of the cabinet, but have always disliked the condition of the piece and the imposing mirror. We asked if they could remove the top piece/mirror and refinish the base cabinet. There were deep cracks in the top surface that ran the length of the piece, large holes where the mirror connected to the cabinet, and the finish looked like it had been incorrectly oiled or waxed for years. But the piece was too nice to simply replace - it needed to be brought back to life. Patrick assured me it would look amazing when they were done with it. They came and picked it up from my house, and I stopped by their shop a week or two later to see it part-way through the process and to choose a stain. It already looked a million times better. They had taken the whole thing down to bare wood, hand-sanded the top to make the surface smooth and all one height, and filled all the holes - I couldn't wait to see the end result. The cabinet was returned to me today, about a week after I stopped in, and I am so impressed! I cannot believe I lived with it for 10 years in the state it was in when it could have looked like this! The repairs made to the top surface blend in seamlessly (and I do color-matching, so I am picky!); the hardware is cleaned and attached with screws that look like they were there all along; and the color and finish are just perfect. Read moreExtremely dishonest. I dropped a table off for repair last September. I was quoted a price of 300. Wanting to make sure that it was fixed right, I told him to be sure to do whatever is needed to do it properly. I said that I would spend more if it was necessary. After 4 months, I went to check on it. They hadn't looked at it. Stopped by 2 months later. They still had not looked at it but said it should be done in a couple of weeks. Went to see them in another 2 months. They still had not started it yet, after 8 months. I had hoped that it would be finished and took 600 with me. I asked him why he did all of the orders that came in after me but not my table? He said "Those were refinishings". So?! When we dropped it off they did not say anything about not repairing our table until there were absolutely no other orders. If they had, then I obviously wouldn't have left it. I told him that I would come back and pick up our table. He snickered and...
Read moreI bought this MCM Lane cedar chest at an auction. Come to find out, it had mold on the outside, it was scratched, and missing a bottom drawer. It was in bad shape and I knew I couldn't fix it (my experience involves chalk paint, lol.) Anyways, I took it to Patrick. Wow!!! He did an amazing job!! This man has a gift. When I left he said to me, "here's to another 50 years!" Better than new and I...
